I don't even live in the States but the States has such an influence on other countries that I am mighty glad that Trump was elected. Certainly, he has said some things that I am sure he now regrets but everyone, even at his age, can grow and learn, and when you dig through the entrenched media bias against him there are many who say he has done a lot of good things and he said himself he gets on best with the ordinary man in the street than the elites. The effect of individualism on morals seems worth considering, since there does seem to be a marked shift in our understanding thereof from other times and places. Have we traded a positive understanding of social responsibility: that we mutually assist and instruct each other, for a negative one: that we not interfere? I was going to write in a candidate, because not voting for Clinton was a no-brainer, but I was having a hard time with the idea of voting FOR Trump.

Our priest in his homily at Mass on Sunday spoke about how the one party says they are pro-choice, but really are "no-choice" except if it's their choice. He encouraged us to think carefully about the kinds of things that would probably happen in our society if the liberals were elected, including continued and increased persecution of Christians and prevention of free exercise of religion.

As of yesterday night I still intended to write in, but I was tuned into a Protestant minister on T.V., and he spoke about the Republican and Democratic platforms, and mentioned although he certainly understood the trepidation of voting for the man Trump, the issue is really to look at the platforms and compare the party platforms, and vote for that.

That sealed it for me. Today, in the voting booth, I held my nose and voted for Trump. I knew I had to show my support for the platform, not the person.

God help and bless America.

BeeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-91004074354811111602016-11-08T18:30:06.049-05:002016-11-08T18:30:06.049-05:00I'm just as concerned about a grandiose, Lefti...I'm just as concerned about a grandiose, Leftist Pope who wants to add more Beatitudes.
