One has to wonder why the current generation of prelates (and those that will be in place for years to come) so dislike and reject their own patrimony. In my Church, we have been blessed to have experienced the absolute opposite becoming realigned with Eastern praxis to the extent we are able. Before someone jumps on me for my previous "extent we are able" statement, there are services that fewer numbers in places makes more practical to have at larger parishes and cathedrals.
Incompetent leaders appoint incompetent subordinates. Make no mistake, McElroy is clever, but his cleverness cannot disguise his dedication to everything that has failed our society and failed our Church. One can only hope that after he prances into the bishop's chair his tenure will be short. We are witnessing the last gasps of a version of the Church that has been on self-destruct for six decades. Let it die the death it so justly deserves.

You nailed it
My sentiments exactly!
And yet - Rome keeps ladling out bad decisions like this:

Jerome Merwick,
Well said, “prances” indeed!
