YES, BUT…

I like the traditional altar arrangement mandated in the pre-Vatican II Roman Missal and its general instructions/rubrics.

But in the case of the pre-Vatican II High Altar of Notre Dame, the oversized candlesticks and very oversized tabernacle hide the central image and iconic Notre Dame. Smaller candlesticks and a lower tabernacle would have prevented this.

The completely restored Notre Dame, thanks be to God, saved and restored the high altar which is stunningly beautifully compared to the new one, described by some, as a cereal bowl. It is a joke compared to the high altar.

I’m not sure when Notre Dame will be re-consecrated. I am sure the modern liturgy will be beautiful as well as the singing. I suspect too, that candlesticks will be returned to the high altar in some form as well as around the new cereal bowl altar.

Rome should end this farce.

No comparison.

Why not just use the high altar? Queue the hackneyed vibrancy tropes.

Father, what exactly is a "retired" priest?
You have the Sacrament of Holy Orders, I have the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. There is no such thing as a "retired" husband. Impossible no matter what the husband's age or health to even think of such a thing.
One retires from a job and then moves to Hilton Head? Okay, all the best.

Not really your business the way the question is framed. Fr. is retired from administrative responsibilities, is in good standing and eligible to assist where there is need (which there is) and is under no obligation to reside anyplace in particular as he is not a monastic. Fr. is not retired from priestly (spiritual) obligations - once a priest, always a priest - the mark is indelible. In plain-English, Fr. is free from worrying about leaky roofs and failing boilers and how money will be raised to repave the parking lot. Note: Fr. does NOT need me to make a statement on his behalf, but, for the sake of addressing a not well framed inquiry, I thought I'd respond.

ByzRus, I'm pretty sure Ranger01 pops up every now and then to give Fr. AJM a good scold from retiring from his position as pastor of a church. I could be wrong or misremembering, but I don't think much more needs to be said. The answer has been explained (not to say that Fr. AJM owes Ranger01 or anyone else such explanation) before; I don't think doing it again will be any more effective.
