One of Woody Allen's early films is titled "Bananas" and is the story of a jilted young man looking for purpose, so he joins a revolution in a Banana Republic (with strong similarities to Cuba) named San Marcos, supporting the revolutionary leader Esposito (a very Castro-esque leader in look and attitude). Esposito initially spoke about bringing justice to the poor and oppressed in San Marcos. After the revolution is over, Allen speaks with Esposito (clad in green fatiques, sunglasses and smoking a cigar) about how wonderful the new regime is going to be, finally bringing justice to the poor and Esposito replies, "I AM THE LAW."
So Austin Ivereigh, the pope's favorite fan-fiction biographer, has confirmed that the pope indeed revoked Cardinal Burke's Roman "privileges", but claims the pope denies calling Burke his enemy. Instead the pope claims Burke must be put in his place because of his "opposition to the Church."
Just think about what that must mean in the mind of this pope. There are countless interviews of Cardinal Burke in which he expresses his filial affection and support for Francis and expresses his concerns over some of Francis' initiatives. And he always makes it clear that it is his dedication and love for the Church that drives his concerns.
And then we have Francis, Bergoglio, or whatever he is..."I AM THE CHURCH!"
Wow. Wow.
It looks like the United States isn't the only nation turning into a Banana Republic.
