Less than three months after the Vatican issued a decree forbidding priests from blessing same-sex unions, nearly two dozen U.S. Catholic leaders and organizations kicked off the celebration of Pride month with a blessings service for LGBTQ Catholics.

After reading Fr. Z's post yesterday, I'm trying to look at stuff like this in a different light.

Of course it is discouraging to see a bishop pulling a stunt like this, knowing fully well he will get away with it (and probably get promoted eventually). It's discouraging to see the foundation being laid to revoke Summorum Pontificum. But maybe, just maybe, these could be, what Fr. Z calls, "False Flag Operations"--deliberate provocations to get us to overreact. Obviously we must hate sins and love the sinner. But when we write the Vatican or our local ordinary and RAGE about what we don't like, we are simply reinforcing the negative stereotypes they are trying to sell about Traditional Catholics. Perhaps we should put more energy into praying for a good pontiff who will one day unleash the wrath of God upon the filth in the Church.

I dunno. Just thinkin'. But for now, bishops like this guy aren't going away. The Ape of the Church has the upper hand and we need to recognize that.

It is indeed a self righteous stunt and the type that heterodox on the left pull. It is grandstanding too.

When the Church is falling apart bishops like this discourage the faithful and provide comfort to those who really don’t care about the Church or her teachings. Brilliant strategy

If the quotes given in the article are correct, note Bishop Stowe did not specifically bless "same sex unions." That looks like a careful dodge. No, I'm not defending what he did. I'm just point out a detail.

He knows what he is doing. He knows the church teaches that every human being, even those in mortal sin of whatever kind, to include unforgiven original sin, have dignity and worth and all called to conversion which entails baptism and the Sacrament of Penance. He is blessing the LGBTQ++++ ideologies. He is blessing their movement as pagan as so much of this ideology is. In other words this bishop has been colonized by them and through in the towel to paganism.

The USA/Mexico border it’s the only one that has been breached. Vatican City has been taken infiltrated. No secret there.

Well, Lexington is one of the few blue areas of red Kentucky. The city is home to the University of Kentucky. We know how cities dominated by universities often favor the blue---think like Athens here in the state of Georgia, Chapel Hill in North Carolina, Charlottesville in Virginia...you get the idea.

It is preposterous beyond comprehension that the supposed suppression of Summorum Pontificum is a False Flag operation.

Rome does not require a False Flag Operation to discern the sick, mutinous mindset that has long been present within "traditional" Catholicism.

Steve Skojec, of 1Peter5 "traditional" Catholic blog, last week painted an horrific picture, to which he had long contributed, of "traditional" Catholicism.

In 2015 A.D, Father Dwight Longenecker said:

"Within Catholic ultra traditionalist circles a new wave of ugliness has arisen. Numerous traditionalist blogs, websites and publications spew disrespectful hatred towards the Catholic church.

"They mock the Mass by despising the “Novus Ordo” they denigrate the Holy Father referring to him as “Pope Frank” or “Bergoglio” and refer to their mother the Catholic Church with adolescent disrespect as “FrancisChurch”.

"I avoid commenting on the filth because, why wallow in sewage?

"You’ll see how they lie, misrepresent and tear down fellow Catholics, how these self appointed prophets ridicule, gossip and slander their fathers in God, and how these self righteous, pretentious Pharisees vomit their bile on all they meet."

Rumors have floated for years that Pope Francis planned to restrict/outlaw the TLM.

We have been aware as to the reactions of "Traditional" Catholics to said rumors. Said folks responded with vicious attacks upon, as well as threatened defiance of "Bergoglio."

Nobody requires a False Flag operation to uncover the above.

Catholic News Agency:

"Catholic dissenters and LGBT activists on Tuesday hosted an online Pride Month “blessing” in reaction to a Vatican statement reiterating that same-sex unions cannot be blessed.

"Speakers made comments that rejected Catholic teaching, talking about “God’s triumph of queer love” or declaring that pride is not sin but “salvation” and “a promise of liberation for all.

“We know that there are many, many Catholics who love, support, and, yes, bless their LGBTQ+ family members, friends, and neighbors,” Marianne Duddy-Burke, executive director of event organizer Dignity USA, said June 1 ahead of the event.

“Many of these people felt disheartened and disappointed by the Vatican statement and appreciated the chance to send a different message.”

DignityUSA has a history of having attacked His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Here are examples of DignityUSA press releases that denounced Pope Francis:

-- January 26, 2016 A.D. Pope Francis’ Disappointing Comments in the Midst of Italy’s Debate on Recognition of Same-Sex Couples Signal Refusal to Change Church Teaching

-- August 1, 2016 A.D. Pope Francis Demonstrates “Lamentable and Dangerous Ignorance” on Gender Identity; DignityUSA Cautions His Words Put Lives at Risk

-- June 18, 2018 A.D. Pope Francis Demeans Many Types of Families in recent statement; LGBTQI Catholics Respond with “We Are Family” Petition

-- December 3, 2018 A.D. Pope Francis Again Demonstrates Dangerous Ignorance About Gay Sexuality; Remarks About Gay Priests Perpetuate Damaging and Discredited Stereotypes

DignityUSA denounced the recent CDF document, approved by Pope Francis, that rejected the blessing of a same-sex union.

DignityUSA's attacks against Pope Francis are Satanic.

That statement has about as much basis in reality as some BLM follower spewing that all police are racists.

But it is also quite revealing about the MT, and for that, we should all be grateful.

There is a certain percentage of EF adherents that are the worst enemy of that part of the Church. If Pope Francis were to to restrict its use in some way, they in large part, due to their impiety and and vituperativeness, have only themselves to blame. They will not only have ruined it for themselves, but for other more respectful and authentically faithful Catholics who attend it.

Pierre said...

Anonymous at 12:03 PM,

Those naughty EF types have done and are doing far less harm to the Faith than the faithless OF types, e.g., many German bishops and buddies of Pope Francis ensconced in the Vatican

We can squabble all we like, and absolutely nothing will change fundamentally. It is indeed very clear where Mark Thomas stands, and thank God he does, avoiding the excesses and extremes of both “traditionalists” and “progressives” (or whatever descriptors you prefer) and retaining our “traditional,” more humble focus on the authority of the Pope and the hierarchy. We could do with more people like Mark Thomas speaking out, both within the Church and within the Republic, instead of pridefully trying to “fix” everything ourselves through the exercise of our will to power!

But if we do want to address a particular issue, why not try listening to one another and trying to understand the deeper (not the superficial) concerns that underlie our various opinions instead of “going tribal” and demonizing one another?

These clerics overestimate their own importance. When they give their blessing to something God does not bless, they lie, they become tempters, and they endanger their own souls, but no actual blessing falls on the situation they mean to celebrate. It's much the same as if I declared Ron Paul to be the president of the United States. I can make the declaration, but it would have zero effect, except to make me look ridiculous.

They could, of course, bless the individuals, but even that kind of blessing is a prayer, and every Christian prayer has an implicit "Thy will be done" or "Not my will, but Thine", and God's will is often different from ours. Bear in mind, "whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth; and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth."

Anonymous 2,

Mark Thomas is an ultramontanist in the extreme.

Labels can be confounding. Here, for example, is article applying the term “ultramontanist” to the critics of Pope Francis as opposed to his defenders:

https://www.ncronline.org/news/opinion/new-ultramontanists-why-do-some-catholics-fear-change

It makes one wonder whether we might be better off avoiding the use of “labels” altogether, no?

Anonymous Pierre said..."Mark Thomas is an ultramontanist in the extreme."

Thank you for that compliment. "Traditional" Catholics are keen to note that "ultramontanist" means that, as Holy Mother Church teaches, one obeys the Pope.

Pope Blessed Pius IX, Encyclical Inter Multiplices, 1853 A.D.

#7: "Be vigilant in act and word, so that the faithful may grow in love for this Holy See, venerate it, and accept it with complete obedience; they should execute whatever the See itself teaches, determines, and decrees."

Pierre, be sure to "venerate" the Holy See. Pierre, you are called with "complete obedience" to obey "whatever the See itself teaches, determines, and decrees."

Anonymous 2,

I think the label fits MT. Apparently you do not read his posts wherein he slobbers over PF and grants him authority over heaven and earth even PF would not assert. And PF still refuses to tell us what his hero has done to discipline the clerics at the Vatican who were engaged in a cocaine fueled sex orgy. Those same clerics would be disciplined in a New York minute if they attempted to celebrate the EF at one of St. Peter's Basilica side altars.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

But Pierre, Pope Francis is under no obligation to tell anyone about these things--it is confidential and are most personnel issues even in the secular world.

Pierre said...

Father McDonald,

Although what you state is true, if he had done ANYTHING, word would have gotten out. He needed to do something if he wants the Faithful to stick around. Otherwise he invites the Faithful to become even more discouraged and walk away

Pierre, be sure, as the ultramontanist (obedient to the Vicar of Christ) that you are called to be, to heed the following from Vatican I — the Creed of Pope Saint Hormisdas:

"The Catholic religion has been preserved ever immaculate in the Apostolic See."

Pierre, obey the following True Church teaching from Vatican II:

"This religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra; that is, it must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will"

Pierre, obey the following from Pope Saint Pius X:

"Therefore, when we love the Pope, there are no discussions regarding what he orders or demands, or up to what point obedience must go, and in what things he is to be obeyed...because whoever is holy cannot dissent from the Pope."

Pierre, obey the following from Pope Pius IX's Encyclical Inter Multiplices, 1853 A.D.

#7: "Be vigilant in act and word, so that the faithful may grow in love for this Holy See, venerate it, and accept it with complete obedience; they should execute whatever the See itself teaches, determines, and decrees."

Pierre, cast Satan aside.

Obey Pope Francis.

Cardinal Pell, in regard to Pope Francis:

"Francis said he’s a loyal son of the Church, and his record shows that. He’s a completely faithful exponent of Christ’s teaching and the Church’s tradition."
