Don't the faithful deserve such a Mass in every church in the diocese, not just in the cathedral (like a gilded ghetto)? Or--more realistically (given the kind of priests we have)--at the very least, within reasonable driving distance for everyone in the diocese. {Maybe there already worship worthy of both God and man everywhere there; I'm unfamiliar with the Diocese of Savannah.)

Henry, the Diocese of Savannah covers a large land area---about three-fifths of the state---so it is not practical to have a Latin Mass within a reasonable driving distance of everyone, if you mean say 15-25 miles. The bulk of the district's geography is very rural; it is a long distance (a lot of it on the back roads) from Savannah to the end points of the diocese near Bainbridge in southwest Georgia and Pine Mountain north of Columbus. That is in contrast to Atlanta, where just about the entire diocese is within a 2-hour drive of the city (the bulk of that within an hour---assuming we're not talking rush hour!) How much of a demand there is for such a Mass, I don't know---being raised mostly after Vatican 2, I can't say I am discontented with OF, or most people I know for that matter.

Anonymous,

The Catholic population of the Diocese of Knoxville is as widely dispersed and thinly distributed as that of the Diocese of Savannah. But a traditional Latin Mass is offered within an hour or so of most, at least twice a month.

Sadly in the diocese of Savannah there are stable groups in both Augusta and Columbus who desire the TLM on a regular basis (weekly preferred). The Columbus Latin Mass community even offered to fly in an ICKSP priest from Chicago to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, but were denied a parish church where the Mass could be said. The Augusta Latin Mass community has over 100 faithful (mostly post Vatican II young people) who've expressed interest. The Augusta faithful have sought a regularly scheduled TLM for over eight years. Most Augusta Latin Mass faithful have to "swim" the Savannah River for the TLM offered monthly on the first Sunday at Our Lady of Peace in North Augusta (Diocese of Charleston) thanks to the generosity of the new, young pastor there.
