FAKE NEWS, SECULAR AND RELIGIOUS--IT'S GOT TO END, PRAY GOD!

We all know that so much of the 24 hour a day news on the cable news shows and on network broadcast stations is fake news. CNN has been caught in the act. Fox apologized this morning for something fake they said yesterday concerning the release of so-called top secret information from the former FBI director.

When news becomes reality show entertainment, which CNN and others pioneered, then fake news makes sense since all reality shows are fake mixed in with some reality, but scripted nonetheless. It is a ratings game and to get viewers.

But the same is true about some right wing Catholic blogs who report hearsay and malicious gossip about Pope Francis and others in the hierarchy, but particularly Pope Francis. I would say that in days gone by this could have led to excommunication of Catholics. Perhaps it should return and with a vengeance.

1Peter5 has a remarkable story today that I would classify as fake news. It is scurrilous and not worthy of Catholics reporting such nonsense as news when it is simply fabrication.

I find the following almost amusing among right-wing Catholic bloggers who hate His Holiness Pope Francis:

That is, the manner in which they employ photos of Pope Francis to help sell their fake news attacks against His Holiness.

Example: When the right-wing promotes a fake story about Pope Francis "attacking" Church teaching, the photo that accompanies the headline will show Pope Francis smiling and laughing.

Conversely, when the fake news story mentions something positive...an increase in priests...or the growth of the TLM, the right-wing blogs will accompany the headlines with photos of Pope Francis in serious, somber, pose...usually a photo taken when he's offering Mass.

The photo of an unsmiling Pope Francis is employed to suggest that Pope Francis is unhappy with a positive story in regard to the Church.

I guess that right-wing bloggers are unaware that even a child could discern the not-so-subtle use of photos designed to defame Pope Francis.

The right-wing Catholic blogs are utterly pathetic. They are cesspools. They are satanic.

24/7...around-the-clock, unrelenting, vile attacks against Pope Francis..."heretic, Evil Clown, Antichrist..."

Right-wing bloggers will publish every fake news, vile lie that they can find to defame the Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis.

However, the right-wing bloggers in question will never...ever...ever promote Pope Francis' condemnations of abortion...right-wing bloggers refuse to publish Pope Francis' Apostolic Blessings in support of pro-life marchers.

Right-wing bloggers will never, ever promote Pope Francis' declarations in favor of marriage between a man and woman.

Never...ever...will right-wing bloggers promote a story that places Pope Francis in favorable light.

Satan is behind the vile attacks against His Holiness Pope Francis.

The attacks are designed to pull Catholics away from the Vicar of Christ, His Holiness Pope Francis.

The mark of Satan is imprinted upon the right-wing "Catholic" blogosphere.

Nobody who is a balanced, rational person could possibly traffic in the 24/7, around-the-clock, horrific negativity...the unrelenting attacks, proven lies...against Pope Francis that mark the right-wing "Catholic" blogosphere.

How on earth can a right-wing "Catholic" blogger spend his waking moments...hour after hour, day after day, promoting unrelenting negativity?

Incredible. Wow!

Cardinal Mueller is reported to confirm that Francis did ask him those 5 questions before dismissing him. It's not traditional Catholics who are evil.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

"Is reported" by whom, when and why would he do such a thing and not directly? Fr. Z has a good article on it. IPeter is fake news in this regard and we all know why. It is not the Catholic way and deserves censure or excommunication.

Fake news is letting people believe that Christ didn't say what He said "a man who leaves his wife and married another commits adultrey" And Francis has no authority to change it. AL is fake news. And what is this talk about censure and excommunication. I thought we were ordered to make a mess. Well the wish has been granted. The one who needs to be silenced is that scandalous bishop in Rome. Will nobody put and 32nd to this nightmare. Why doesn't Burke speak up what is he waiting for. He has lost everything what more can Bergoglio do to him.

Today's fake political news generally looks phony on its face. Whereas this five questions story--whether fake or true--has a certain ring of truth, sounding consistent with the two personalities involved.

Dang, Mark, quit reading that stuff if it upsets you so badly. You don't bark back at a dog, do you? Write 'em off and ignore 'em en toto rather than respond each time they pass gas.

I went to 1P5 and read the article that is now padded with disclaimers. Notwithstanding the editor's pen the alledged litmus test for Cardinal Meuller sounded totally made up. First of all why would Pope Francis ask those questions of a Bishop? Secondly, why would his interrogation about AL be more organised and focused than the document itself? This reads like a troll or true anti-Catholic penned this just to cause trouble.

Question: since he didn't put Cardila Meuller to death may I, or someone of like mind, re-enstate him when elected Pope?

How on earth can a left-wing blogger spend his waking moments ... promoting unrelenting positivity?

I would not necessarily credit a news story on face value since journalists do not normally identify their sources.

Yet the dysfunctional nature of the present-day Vatican is commented on by serious minds who cannot simply be dismissed as 'vile' or 'Satanic'. Last week the Catholic Herald, the most serious and balanced Catholic weekly in the UK, had a cover story on this issue.

By all means bury your head in the sand, believe that Pope Francis (or any pope) is an oracle of God, and convince yourself that nothing could possibly be wrong.

You won't convince anyone who examimes the evidence and does not rely on unsubstantiated rumour.

I've never heard of that website before, and this seems like a good reason for everyone to avoid it. I'm no fan of Pope Francis, but I am a fan of the truth.

Like the vestments in this piece---especially the chasuble. You really can't see the alb these days in an OF Mass because the chasuble comes down so low---and it looks like in the EF Mass, chasuble designed so it is easier to move your hands when celebrating Mass.

I have ceased to read one fake news "traditional Catholic" blog after another. I am unable to cope with the daily horrific negativity associated with said blogs.

However, I often encounter their trash via links posted to Catholic news stories posted to Twitter.

Today, I first encountered One Peter Five's story in question when I read Father McDonald's blog. I am glad that Father exposed the trash in question.

By the way, rcg, as a Catholic, I am expected to promote truth and confront lies. Should I encounter a fake news story promoted by a "traditional Catholic" blog, I am expected by Holy Mother Church to work to dispel the fake news in question.

When the Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis, is defamed and dehumanized via fake news stories, I am compelled to defend my Pope.

I just read the disclaimer on 1P5. The disclaimer reveals the anti-Pope Francis game played by 1P5. !P% said:

"UPDATE: When this story was first issued, we had not yet received any response from Cardinal Müller, his secretary, or Greg Burke, Director of the Vatican Press office. Burke has since responded to say that the reconstruction of the events of the Müller meeting as described below is “totally false”.

"The personal secretary of Cardinal Müller has responded to OnePeterFive in an e-mail, saying that the pope did not put these five questions to Cardinal Müller and adding that this OnePeterFive article was doing damage to Cardinal Müller."

"However, he did not explain how so, particularly considering that the version of events reported to us by our sources paint Müller in a favorable and orthodox light.

"We just have received a second confirmation of the story from our reliable source which stems right out of the center of loyal and well-connected German Catholicism. Thus we plan to write a follow-up to this story in the near future."
=====================================================================

Mission Accomplished by 1P5. The fake news story was concocted to defame and dehumanize His Holiness Pope Francis. The fake news story enables Pope Francis haters to justify their hatred of Pope Francis...to justify opposition to the "Evil Clown" Pope.

1P5 has now heard from Greg Burke at the Vatican Press office. "Burke has since responded to say that the reconstruction of the events of the Müller meeting as described below is “totally false”.

In addition to that, "The personal secretary of Cardinal Müller has responded to OnePeterFive in an e-mail, saying that the pope did not put these five questions to Cardinal Müller and adding that this OnePeterFive article was doing damage to Cardinal Müller."

What is 1P5's response to official denials of the fake news story in question?

"We just have received a second confirmation of the story from our reliable source which stems right out of the center of loyal and well-connected German Catholicism. Thus we plan to write a follow-up to this story in the near future."

Translation: 1P5 is determined to keep alive the discredited fake news in question. But how?

1P5, in very obvious fashion, attempted to discredit the official denials in question via the introduction of a supposed "reliable source" who has offered "a second confirmation of the story..."

1P5 has rigged the game against Pope Francis. 1P5 cannot possibly lose the game in question as 1P5 will simply attempt to discredit Greg Burke and Cardinal Müller's personal secretary.

One official denial after another will not satisfy 1P5.

1. Promote fake news story concocted to defame and dehumanize Pope Francis.

2. When confronted with denials from Vatican Press Office as well as Cardinal Müller's personal secretary, simply attempt to undermine said denials?

3. How to do that? Simply introduce a "second confirmation" of the fake news story from "our reliable source."

Right-wing Catholic bloggers who traffic in foul attacks against Pope Francis will not permit anything, even an official denial from Cardinal Müller's personal secretary, to get in the way of the latest fake news story concocted to dehumanize Pope Francis.

Yes, that story from 1peter5 was terribly irresponsible and bush league. I'm not a fan of the Holy Father's theological or pastoral ideas and practices, but he is the pope in a very confusing and strange time for the Church, and it is uncharitable and sinful to purposely and recklessly calumniate him, when he really needs prayers. I am a traditionalist, and that blog post was embarrassing to me, to say the least.

John Nolan said...

The 'five questions' story was never plausible.

However, the circumstances of Müller's dismissal are disturbing, and we need go no farther than his own comments.

Sooner or later Mark Thomas will wake up.

Some of the blogs in question are run by people who are anonymous. However, there are "traditional Catholic" bloggers who are in the open as they attack His Holiness Pope Francis (as well as Churchmen who don't march in lockstep with right-wing bloggers).

Are bishops unaware of "traditional Catholic" bloggers who traffic openly in vile attacks against Pope Francis and others? I guess that that is possible.

However, there are "traditional" Churchmen, such as Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider, who grant interview upon interview to "traditional Catholic" bloggers who traffic in vile attacks against Pope Francis and others.

Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider also interact with said folks at conferences conducted by "traditional Catholics."

Cardinal Burke, Bishop Schneider, and additional "traditional" Churchmen need to call out the promoters of vicious anti-Pope Francis fake news stories. The Churchmen in question should exhort vicious "traditional Catholic" bloggers to repent...to halt the vicious attacks against Pope Francis.

Should those who spread lies about Pope Francis (and others) refuse to repent, then Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider should refuse to "do business" with the people in question.

Cardinal Müller refutes claims about conversation with Pope

Vatican City, Jul 12, 2017 / 09:01 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Cardinal Gerhard Müller has strenuously denied media reports alleging Pope Francis asked the German prelate five pointed questions before informing him that his term as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith was not being renewed.

The claims have been widely reported on social media.
====================================================================

Via Twitter, I encountered a report that 1P5 had "updated" the fake news story in question. I visited 1P5's blog a couple of minutes ago. At least some of 1P5's readers have attempted desperately to support the validity of 1P5's false report.

Said folks twisted Greg Burke's (Director of the Vatican Press Office) clear refutation of the 1P5 story. Mister Burke denied the story's validity...the “reconstruction is totally false”...said Mr. Burke.

At 1P5, certain folks pretended that Mr. Burke did not deny the story in question. They pretended that Mr. Burke's comment, "the reconstruction is totally false," is not a denial of the story.

Said folks refused to comment upon Cardinal Müller's personal secretary's unwavering rejection of the story's validity.

Certain folks are so desperate to believe lies spread against Pope Francis that they are unable to admit that top-level sources have proclaimed the story false.

Now, as reported by CNA/EWTN News, we have Cardinal Müller's personal, unwavering confirmation that 1P5's story is one big lie.

However, that won't suffice as certain right-wing Catholic blogosphere folks possess such profound hatred of Pope Francis that they simply will not accept the truth.

The sordid lies promoted by 1P5's fake news story — a story confirmed today as fake by none other than Cardinal Müller — is absolute proof that the right-wing "traditional Catholic" blogosphere has sunk deep into Satan's cesspool.

As Catholics, we need to rally around the Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis, who is assaulted daily by those who perform Satan's work.

Pray that the Blessed Virgin Mary will inspire those who hate Pope Francis to repent of their (the haters) evil determination to daily dehumanize and defame Pope Francis.

Pray for Pope Francis, a child of God, who is dehumanized and defamed daily by certain "traditional" "Catholics."
