ARCHITECT WHO DESIGNED A BEAUTIFUL NEW CATHOLIC CHURCH IN AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA (DIOCESE OF CHARLESTON WHERE I LIVE) WILL DESIGN THE NEW TRUMP BALL ROOM NEXT TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

Rorate Caeli has a post on this, but names the church as being in North Carolina, but it is in South Carolina, Diocese of Charleston. Specifically, it is Saint Mary Help of Christians Church in Aiken, SC about 16 miles from downtown Augusta, Georgia where I grew up and was pastor of the downtown parish from 1991 to 2004, The Church of the Most Holy Trinity.

You can read the Rorate Caeli Post:

McCrery, Architects of Catholic Beauty, chosen to renovate the White House

I am sure democrats will decry the cost of this, which I think is about $200 Million. The president says it will come from private donations. I was glad to see how many democrats decried Kamala Harris spending about 1 billion dollars on her extremely failed presidential campaign.

I’m not sure, though, about a building like this being built so close to the White House. But it certainly blends in with the architecture already there:

Yes! We’re making progress when you acknowledge Kamala’s vanity spending 1 billion dollars on a very short and very failed presidential campaign! Good for you!

K, you really are slipping. If you read about this project, it is being paid for by President Trump and private donors. If Biden did this, you would be slobbering all of this. Harris is dumber than a stump and you know it.

Beautiful rendering. Compliments the existing structure perfectly. Nice this won't be a clash rife with decades of endless disappointment.

TJM - I read about this project - probably more than you did. And I don't give a tinker's damn about who is paying for it. Actually, I do. His "donors" are willing patsies for the on-going bribery/extortion that marks this presidency. I wonder how many have donated to replace housing that has been demolished in Gaza... “There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day. And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side..."

The plans seem to place it as far form the existing buildings on the White House grounds. That will lessen the impact.

Trump's taste in interior decor is tacky, but later presidents can fix that with a good coat of paint.

On TJM’s behalf, let me thank you for the critique you have made on Kamala Harris having spent over $1 Billion dollars on a short and stunningly ugly and complete failure presidential campaign. No one can paint over that scandal. $1 Billion on a stupendously failed presidential campaign. Thank you Fr. K for highlighting your biting critique of that democrat’s spending of so much valuable monies which could have helped the poor Lazaruses of the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The K-ster - we know your tastes are low brow, but here is a quote for you that sums up the evil your Party commits ad nauseum:

"but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

Only a diseased mind would slap a coat on this and, given the chance, would whitewash the Sistine Chapel. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

William - And only someone who shares Trump's knack for tacky would think these renderings of the interior are a thing of beauty.

or your de classe tastes in vestiture and architecture. Your Church building is about as bland and tasteless as it gets.

K you must be despondent that a genuine Catholic was appointed US ambassador to the Holy See and not one of those phony Catholics your Party promotes!

K this will drive you nuts! Bishop Zaidan of the USCCB praising President Trump!

Bishop Abdallah Elias Zaidan, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace, expressed approval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments recognizing starvation in Gaza.

“I commend President Trump for acknowledging that starvation is happening in Gaza, especially affecting children,” Zaidan wrote in a July 31 statement, adding: “And I urge him to demand the immediate expansion of humanitarian assistance through all channels in Gaza.”
