TRY GLEN CAMPBELL’S “TRY A LITTLE KINDNESS” AND SING THAT AT MASS! GROOVY MAN! JUST GROOVY!!!
Yes, I heard this Second Vatican Council mandated song at Mass in the early 1970’s: Groovy, no? The words truly teach true post Vatican II Catholics, no doubt about it and on top of that it is very relevant and soooo meaningful!
A disclaimer, I like Glen Campbell and his songs then and now, just not at Mass. as a secular folk song, it’s very good in tune and sentiments, just not at Mass…
Attended a very good Mass at St John the Evangelist in Logan, OH this last weekend. The pastor did an outstanding job of merging the two liturgical forms into the NO format. Yet we had asperges, Benedictine altar arrangement, beautiful vestments, PATFOA, male altar servers with a female lector, a top notch and literate homily, kneeling for communion, and traditional hymns. The nave was packed on a very beautiful day, which means the congregation was delaying hiking, canoeing, and other outdoor activities typical of that area in favor of Mass. The Church building is in great shape and well maintained. Lots of trees and grass surround it with a view of a hillside cemetery. I could be a very happy member of that parish.
I was surprised. The procession and asperges etc. made me think it was going to be VO, then they went into the regular NO Ordinary. Then they had EVERYONE kneel for communion, except of course the infirm who could not. Communion on the tongue. This was as it should be if it can't be all in Latin. The place was packed and everyone participating.

100% agree. Glen Campbell has some great hits but please not at Mass. Thankfully I haven't seen/heard much of any of this since I left Baton Rouge

RCG? How did the priest pull off the PATFOTA in a NO Mass????

OK, in retrospect, it was not the TLM PATFOA because they used the NO act of contrition. I must have been so amazed that was confused in my missal.
