AMERICAN CARDINAL ROBERT PROVOST THE NEXT POPE?

Cardinal Provost is being seen as a serious contender as the next pope!

NcR reporting (please note what I highlight in RED:

On another front, the idea of an American pope is gaining traction with Cardinal Robert Prevost emerging as a serious frontrunner, NCR's Christopher White and Rhina Guidos reported. Born in Chicago but shaped by decades of service in Latin America and Europe, the 69-year-old Augustinian friar now heads the Vatican office that oversees bishop appointments worldwide.

His blend of pastoral fieldwork and curial experience has drawn attention, particularly as Cardinal Pietro Parolin’s candidacy falters, according to multiple Italian news outlets today, May 1.

The Corriere della Sera also reported Prevost has been seen on April 30 entering conservative U.S. Cardinal Burke's apartment in Rome to take part in "a top-secret summit."

Given the gamesmanship at play, the "secret" get together might be so secret that Burke never heard of it, and this thrown out for public and cardinalate consumption because the guy is the progressive choice, or maybe a straw man to keep attention off the real candidate...games within games within wheels within wheels....

As for players and misdirection, Russia and China clearly feel they have a dog in the hunt, with Putin flatly stating Francis' sympathies and similarities in outlook were with the Russians, while China just did a hatchet job on Parolin by electing their own bishop without a pope to be found, and blatantly illustrating Parolin's failure.

Prevost was the guy who gave this priest a home at the friary for two years, nine years after the priest removed from ministry, never told the nearby elementary school admin about their new neighbor...

I prayed the prayer on the masthead. I'm going to avoid being doubtful, speculative and a gossip in the coming days. I will also be hopeful that the cardinal electors will be receptive to divine guidance while being ever-mindful regarding the preservation of Christ's Church and the needs of its people relative to God's precepts.

I ain't speculating at all, only talking suitable and unsuitable for pre-existing reasons. I most certainly do not "read the morning paper", as the John Prine song went, "and swear it as God's word", and the modern internet far worse than any newspaper of Prine's day, broadcasting megawatts of stupidity and propaganda, this fishwrap piece a great example of both, and just as bad at some "conservative" sites. Zero critical thinking skills, only party line blather, which also spells."Mark".

Back to Prevost, he hails from the priestly gay mafia bastion of Chicago, very much enjoyed working in Peru renowned for priestly child abuse of too many places to list, and then in 2000-2002 gave a home to a priest accused of over 10 molestations, the home near both a school and day care, with no notice to either facility. He might be as pure as the driven snow, but, one would hope after Francis stonewalling on molestation charges in his own diocese, and again as pope, that the conclave will put out of mind any candidate who might be even remotely tainted.

But, hey, we're talking the Roman Catholic Church here, where neither old/new rite squabbles or making real visible justice against, and protection from, molesters has ever been more than a talking point unless the press got hold of it.

The National Anti-Catholic Reporter is always fighting the last war. Young faithful Catholic clergy and laity could care less what they and the Francis wing think.

Bob, my comment wasn't directed to anyone in particular. Just my reflection.
