Why does anyone think it is a good idea to hide the altar with flowers, photos, portraits, painting candles and other such things? Why are post-Vatican II sanctuaries so disoriented and a hodgepodge of banners, plants, real and plastic? Why are post-Vatican II sanctuaries such a hot mess? And those palms, those ubiquitous d**n palms! Why, O Lord, why?
