This is a no brainer. Just look at how much more spacious and dignified the sanctuary is with only one main altar. Just what is that thing in front of the magnificent original altar anyway? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thank God they have not otherwise destroyed the sanctuary. If they insisted on versus populum they could have detached the mensa and moved it forward, probably necessitating changes to the step area. The best solution would have been to do nothing
