I AM AWAY FROM MY PARISH THIS WEEKEND CONCLUDING MY WEEK OF ONGOING FORMATION, BUT LOOK AT WHAT OUR PAROCHIAL VICAR AND COORDINATOR OF RELIGIOUS FORMATION PLANNED AND ARE EXECUTING THIS VERY SATURDAY WITH ABOUT 40 IN ATTENDANCE


Truly Present: A Retreat for Eucharistic Adorers
Saturday, August 28, 2021
9:00am – 6:00pm ● St. Anne Catholic Church

Opening (Fr. Robert Phillips)
Main Church

The day begins with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Robert will lead an introductory prayer and offer a time of silent adoration.

Talk #1: Truly Present (Fr. Robert Phillips)

What is the “Eucharist”? What do we learn about the Eucharist in the Bible and in the Tradition of the Church? Why do we believe what we do? What did the first Christians believe about the Eucharist? How can we know that Christ is Truly Present in adoration?
Guided Reflection
Retreatants will receive a copy of the reflection questions and choose their location: Holy Family Hall, Outside, or Main Church.

Talk #2: Things to Do in Adoration (Dcn. Will Cook- tentative)

What are some things that we can do in adoration? How do we maintain reverence before the Blessed Sacrament? What do we do when we become distracted or restless? What can we do to prepare for adoration? How should we structure our time?

Lunch: Provided by Knights of Columbus

Tables will be labeled with “hours.” Participants are encouraged to sit together with other adorers in their same hour and get to know them.

Participants have been invited to share stories of answered prayers and miraculous healing. Presenters will include Mr. Stephen Fischer, Mr. Jesse Watkins, and Dr. Hilda Irizarry.

Meditation for Beginners (Fr. John Paul Heiser, OSB)

Learn what it means to meditate and how to incorporate the practice into your prayer life. Fr. John Paul Heiser, a Benedictine monk, will explain the basics of meditation to help you get started.

Praying with Scripture (Mrs. Melinda Stubbs)
Holy Family Hall Room 5A/B
Dive into the treasures of the Holy Bible. Learn how to start reading scripture, how to interpret and understand what you read, and how include regular scripture reading in your everyday life.

Adoring with Children (Ms. Renee Singleton)
Holy Family Hall Room 3
Explore ways to introduce children to Eucharistic Adoration and discover creative solutions to common difficulties. Learn about available resources and how to structure time spent in adoration with children.

Talk #3: Eucharistic Miracles (Fr. Drew Larkin)

What do we mean by the phrase “Eucharist Miracles?” What are some examples of Eucharistic Miracles, both in historical and modern times? How does the Church determine that a miracle is real? Can the study of Eucharistic Miracles enhance our prayer life, especially in Eucharistic Adoration?

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (Fr. Robert Phillips)

Priests will be available for confession. Resources will be provided, including those for adoration and for confession. After the Blessed Sacrament is reposed, retreatants are invited to stay for the 5:00pm Vigil
