This isn't an in your face 4 something minutes advertisement for a cable/media giant and it tugs at your heartstrings. It is a very well done mini movie for those of us with short attention spans. I remember when ET first debuted, a priest in our diocese characterize ET as a Christ-Figure, and specifically a Sacred Heart-like Christ-Figure:

I didn't expect much when Fr. McD said it was really good. Sometimes people say that and it's only okay. But I have to admit I was so unexpectedly surprised and sincerely touched by this commercial. At first I thought it was just kind of a remake of ET, but then when it became apparent that ET had come back to see grown up Elliot, well, tears actually came to my eyes.
Funny how having lived that experience when everyone in the culture knew who ET was that this commercial takes you right back there with heartfelt sentiment. It's kind of a postcard sequel.
