What that showed me was that the practice of kneeling during the words of the Incarnation during the Creed must also be a norm in the Novus Ordo (at least in Rome). I had not noticed until now. I always thought that the Incarnation kneeling rubric was only followed in the Extraordinary Form and that bowing for those words (of Incarnation) was the Novus Ordo rubric (maybe bowing is only the norm in the U.S. even though most ignore it?).
I’ve seen that video before and I don’t care. That man has no problem groveling on the floor before pagans, muslims and communists. That man allowed and participated in the worship of pagan idols in the Vatican itself! I don’t care what health problems that old heretic has. He can’t be dead soon enough for me. Long live Christ the King!
I can see that he's in pain kneeling there. But that is why the MC's are there, to help him. I suppose a metania is better than a curtsy kind of genuflection....that said, if he wasn't able to kneel in the first place, perhaps he should have rejected the papacy ;)
Although I said the above earlier, it's also hard to have sympathy for him, when he's kneeling on Holy. Thursday for the foot-washing or kissing the feet of leaders, so there's that
As Fr. McDonald knows well, knee (or other joint) problems can come and go. One week, everything is fine. A month later, the pain is substantial.
But, of course, most everyone here knows full well that Pope Francis is faking the pain because he doesn't believe in the Real Presence, making him a heretic and, therefore, not the legitimate successor to Peter.
The hermeneutic of suspicion is overwhelming in these parts.
Anonymous what is hilarious to me is the revelation that there are people like yourself who feel that there is no reason for people like me to be suspicious.
The hermeneutic of gullibility is strong in some individuals.
Of course Anonymous as you say knew and hip issues come and go, so there MUST be pictures and videos of Francis in adoration before the sacrament somewhere...
Certainly when he was younger... Cardinal?? Archbishop?? Bishop??
The rubrics state that we bow for the words "homo factus est" most days, but on March 25 and December 25, we genuflect. I don't know the circumstances of the video, perhaps it was the Solemnity of the Annunciation.
I don't always genuflect. Some days I have knee pain (which is my fault as I have enjoyed the good things of Creation too much over the years), some days I don't. While I freely confess I don't like pain, I have a better reason for going easy on my knees on such occasions: I don't wish to cause a worse problem.
I think the Holy Father has legit knee problems. I am humbled by his effort. One of the reasons I moved to my current parish was the effort so many ancient and infirm people made to kneel for Holy Communion. Our Lord wants little from us than our humility and praise and these people gave a glorious gift.
Fr. Fox, Thank you for the clarification. You have confirmed what I had known earlier regarding the practice in the Novus Ordo. The problem in practice is that most priests, much less pew-sitting laity, don't observe this rubric of bowing for those words in the Creed. The fact that the more traditional practice of genuflecting for those words only should (in theory) happen twice a year (in the New Rite) makes it even more likely that people will forget (or not know in the first place) that this is what they should be doing.
Personally, I think we would have been better off to have retained the older practice of genuflecting for these words all year round, as continues to be the case in the Extraordinary Form. I know the first time I experienced the older Form as an adult, this made a big impression on me.
If, like me, you have dodgy knees, kneeling at the altar rail, or at a prie-dieu, or in a pew that has a kneeler is relatively easy. Genuflection is more or less impossible. I know priests a lot younger than PF who can't do it, and a profound bow is better than a 'pretend' genuflection.
At PF's first Midnight Mass in St Peter's, he requested the Et Incarnatus from Mozart's C Minor Mass, a long bravura piece which even the composer thought was a bit OTT and wihdrew it, but which is a favourite of His Holiness.
Francis knelt at a prie-dieu; the assembled cardinals and bishops had to kneel on the cold marble floor for several minutes, which proved too much for some of them.
It's not so much the kneeling but the getting up again.

Will someone please enlighten me on this one?
Probably just a temporary issue due to muscle strain from too much Pachamama bowing.

Thank you, Father McDonald, for having posted such a beautiful, inspirational video of our Holy Father.

For heaven's sake!

This video was taken from when the pope of rome was in Milan...so here he is celebrating the modern Ambrosian rite.
I have knee problems too, and can't always make prostrations when called upon...So I get it...

Here's a video of the Pope prostrating himself and kissing the feet of three Sudanese leaders. You can hear his labored breathing.

Dan,
Watch this at 1:02. The pope kneels to adore the Host.

Anonymous. Thanks. Still odd that he was sitting at a kneeled while others were kneeling and finally knelt as others stood.
But thanks for finding something.

Dan,
I would also like to add the following video from 2015:

He kneels in front of the Blessed Sacrament at about 53 minutes in.
