THEN MONSIGNOR RECTOR, NOW CARDINAL ARCHBISHOP CUPICH'S 1980'S RENOVATION OF THE PONTIFICAL COLLEGE JOSEPHINUM SEMINARY CHAPEL WITH NOW RECTOR MONSIGNOR SCHRECK'S COMPLETE RESTORATION IN THE LAST 10 YEARS
Monsignor Chris Schreck, rector of the Josephinum, is a priest of the Diocese of Savannah.
Mgsr. Cupich before and after renovation of the chapel in the 1980's:
If I were rector, I'd be tempted to send Cardinal Cupich a set of pictures of the new look. It wouldn't be the prudent thing to do, but alas, that has not always stopped me!
Cardinal Cupich's wreckovation really is an insult to artists. To think the Church was one of the largest patrons of the arts at one point in time. Hopefully Msgr. Schreck's restoration is the early sign of a Renaissance in Catholic art,and that art will inspire people to begin reentering the Church.
I should have said the color photos--they were so dull that I thought they were black and white. Anyway, I was thinking of the Scandinavian churches that were all whitewashed after the "reformation".
Cupich's taste in art and Church architecture is the least of our problems. Here he is, Archbishop of Chicago, and in an interview says it is just fine that gay couples receive Holy Communion, even though they are in an objective state of mortal sin (if they are chaste, such would not be the case). So he is tossing out inveterate teaching just so he can appear hip and trendy with the Catholic Church hating crowd.
"So he is tossing out inveterate teaching just so he can appear hip and trendy..." They ALL are tossing out the teachings of the Church to the great delight of Francis.
Sadly, even the renovation lacks the altar rail or traditional altar Catholics would have seen the Sacrifice on for 16 centuries instead of the Cranmer style table.

I guess Cupich is one the non-stereotypical ones Bee was inquiring about in an earlier thread.
With all the money needed to repair the damage done to sanctuaries by the Vatican II vandals, maybe these vandals should be the ones to pay for it.

the black and white photos of the first wreckovation look like the interior of a Lutheran cathedral from 18th century Sweden.
Actually Cupich's wreckovation looks like him - dull
