In regard to the Dictator Pope:
Beginning at the video's 16:55 mark, Robert Royal offered his take on the book.
-- Robert Royal noted that the book's title is unfortunate..."inflammatory title" are Mr. Royal's words.
-- Mr. Royal declared that the book is "90 percent accurate."
Ahh...it's good to know that "just" 10 percent of the book is inaccurate. I mean, who needs accurate reporting when it comes to smearing the Vicar of Christ, His Holiness Pope Francis? Again, it's fine and dandy that at least 10 percent of the book is false. Yeah. Right.
-- Mr. Royal acknowledged that parts of the book go "beyond the evidence."
-- On his web site, which featured his review of the book, Mr. Royal acknowledged that there is a portion of the book in which the author "weakens his (the author's) credibility" via the repetition of rumors.
Additional reviews of the book have noted that The Dictator Pope traffics in hearsay reports against His Holiness Pope Francis.
Also noted via additional reports is that the book, except for the rumor that the Vatican supported Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign financially, repeats simply old stories about Pope Francis.
In regard to the Vatican-Hillary Clinton rumor, Robert Royal noted:
"Colonna (pseudonym) also weakens his credibility somewhat by repeating rumors that Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin convinced Francis to use money from Peter’s Pence to support Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
"No footnotes appear to support this claim, nor does Colonna offer a plausible account of how and why Rome would think Mrs. Clinton – Hilary Clinton? – worth such a risky bet and potential scandal." ====================================================
The Dictator Pope reminds me of the trash book entitled Hitler's Pope, that attempted to smear Pope Venerable Pius XII.
CCC #2477:
"Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury. He becomes guilty:
- of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them."
CCC #2479:
"Detraction and calumny destroy the reputation and honor of one's neighbor. Honor is the social witness given to human dignity, and everyone enjoys a natural right to the honor of his name and reputation and to respect. Thus, detraction and calumny offend against the virtues of justice and charity."
I won't read The Dictator Pope. (I haven't read Hitler's Pope, which, with The Dictator Pope, was designed to destroy a man's (Pope Venerable Pius XII) good name.)
Even overall favorable right-wing reviews (the right-wing has trafficked in attacks against Pope Francis) of The Dictator Pope have acknowledged that the book has rehashed old hearsay claims in regard to His Holiness Pope Francis.
Is The Dictator Pope (even Papal critic Robert Royal acknowledged that even the book's title is unfortunate...he said the title is "inflammatory) a book that the Blessed Virgin Mary would read?
Would Saint Joseph read a smear book that is filled with hearsay claims that were concocted to defame a man's (Pope Francis') good name?
What has become of Catholics who, once upon a time, shunned books that featured hearsay concocted to destroy person's good name?
Today...
There are Catholics who delight in The Dictator Pope. There are Catholics who delight in Hitler's Pope.
There are Catholics who refuse to promote Pope Francis' abundant declarations that have promoted the Culture of Life, the Holy Sacrament of Penance, marriage between a man and woman, the restoration of Sunday as a day centered upon Mass and rest.
But sadly, there are many among said Catholics who take time to promote The Dictator Pope.
Any promotion of His Holiness Pope Francis as a holy child of God...as our brother in Jesus Christ...is out of the question.
However, when it comes to the promotion of hearsay against Pope Francis...any attempt to defame Pope Francis...well, let's promote that to the hilt!
The "crisis in the heart of the Church" (in Raymond Arroyo's words) flowing directly from the aberrant or ambiguous non-magisterial musings of the present pope will have blown over when they've been corrected unambiguously by a subsequent pope or council.
That rarity, almost non-existent in Catholic blogdom, a calm discussion of the current crisis--of a Pope who appears (rightly or wrongly) to be in conflict with Tradition--that perhaps most everyone here can see as "fair and balanced":

Henry,
Spot on!
Bee here:
Thanks for posting this Fr. McD. Fr. Gerald Murray's clarity was very helpful.
And the Pope says we need to change the words, "Lead us not into temptation." in the Lord's Prayer!
Perhaps we should be praying, "And don't let the Pope or a bishop lead us into temptation!"
God bless.
Bee
Bee, amen!
