Yes, I am in this priestly mob, being swept up from one distant point to a very close point to the Holy Father. This priestly melee was a surge and I do not know how I got from point A to point B without being killed. In fact, I just plain don't know how I got there! The papal security team was horrified to say the least!
I have gray hair and glasses and am evident to myself but can you pick me out?
I took this first photo:

Melee…I'm not sure how Catholicism is doing in Malay.
Thanks, I will fix it! Never have been in one before!
Point A to Point B would be a straight line under normal conditions. But in a melee, all bets are off!
Ha! I spotted you!

You already have the NSA monitoring your blog, the National Catholic Reporter is forwarding your posts to the Democratic National Committee, and Ignotus has TPed the Rectory *twice* while you were away. Now you will have the Swiss Guard calling Letterman's attorney to get advice how to deal with stalkers. On your last night you should climb over the wall of the convent and smuggle some schnapps to Pope Benedict and get him to tell you some jokes and stories you can serialize in you blog when you get back.
I wonder what he is planning for Christmas midnight Mass. I bet he says it in a pizza shop on the Via Veneto and hands out pizza to poor gypsies.
There appear to be a large number of Fascist salutes from the crowd. I thought it was "Viva il Papa!" not "Viva il Duce!"
I can just imagine the furor that would be going on...the names that would be flying, if we progressive Catholics were dissing a Pope like you traditional Catholics are doing lately.
CHIP ANON
Hi Chip! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks. Same to you.
Chip, Let me ask you a question. You identify yourself as a "progressive" Catholic…so what do you see as the purpose and goal of the Church? What do you see as the true work of Christ? "Progressive" is pretty general, but it does call up certain associations. Help me out here…if you are willing.
I don't normally refer to myself as a "progressive" Catholic. I usually just say I'm a Catholic. I did it in this case simply to distinguish myself from members of this blog who often use the term "traditional" Catholics. I was...am a supporter of Vatican II. I do not long for the EF, or for Latin or the things that are the subject of much of the discussion here. I think the work of the Church is the work of Christ...to help us all achieve salvation. I support and am encouraged by Pope Francis. I am often offended by your flip, sarcastic, superior attitude in your remarks.
I don't really care if you are offended. Man up…
So, what is "salvation" for you? Just what is the work of Christ?
Let me point out, Chip, that you came on the blog with snotty and flip remarks…just like Ignotus, Millie, and some other lib joker who is gone now. I have never initiated any flip remarks, sarcasm, or dismissive responses. I have always used them in response fro such from the so-called progressives who come on here with attitudes. You are like the punk who pushes a man in the chest, then acts all surprised when he punches your lights out. You need to grow a pair...
"Man up"? "Grow a pair"? "Punch your lights out"? Gosh Gene...I wish I could be a real man like you.
I see that you like country music. I'd like to suggest a tune for you while you're at your leisure during this holiday week-end. Go to youtube and find Todd Snider. Watch and listen to a tune called "Conservative Christian, Right Wing Republican, Straight White American Male". It pokes a little fun at your side and at mine. Peace be with you. CHIP ANON
Anonymous, That isn't the kind of country music I like. I like the old honky tonk juke box, down and out, drinking and cheating songs. I do not like politicized country (or any other) music. I actually listen to more bluegrass than country. I play guitar and sing with a few folks around here. (You know songs like, "She Went Out of Her Way to Walk on Me," "She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye," and "If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me Then Her Memory Will." )
Nah, Chip, either you are a grown up male or you aren't. The vernacular is just what it is.
Chip, respond to my questions above, if you will. There may be an actual basis for us to have a discussion.
I don't really care whether there's an actual basis for us to have a discussion or not.
Well, that is certainly fine with me. So, I guess you will continue with your catty remarks, snide observations, and runny-nosed behavior? Can't wait...
