Pope Francis will now be carried by eight Vatican security guards in his new sedia gestatoria. The Holy Father will sit in the drivers seat as he is carried aloft in the reformed sedia gestatoria and waves to the adoring crowds:
Actually, the Renault 4 was a good little runabout in its day, and ideal for rough French country roads and farm tracks. There was room behind the rear seats for a family's luggage or a large dog. I well remember the sliding windows and the gear lever which jutted out of the dashboard. It was in production for 31 years (1961-1992) and was manufactured under licence in many countries, including Italy, Mexico and Colombia.
The pope's model has 300,000 km on the clock, a tribute to its simple but reliable engine. Americans are in no position to sneer; until recently US production cars were notorious for their handling, which was poor by European standards.
Well, John, I really do think it is cute. I also agree that US auto makers should take a page out of European auto makers' book. We chose Japan instead...sigh.

They'll need the Mercedes popemobile to tow it...
Well, if it hits somebody, they can go to the hospital and have it removed...
