For more and more people in the world today, godless secularism is the religion of choice even for those who would still claim to be Catholic or of a Protestant denomination. Many seem to want to have the veneer of being Christian, but don't want to be transformed by what Christ teaches let alone the love of Christ they have received.

Even Catholics shop for the parish that is 'comfortable'.
It's all about pleasing myself.
When every single thing that one is exposed to nowadays in one way or another promotes self-satisfaction, often very subtly, what do you expect?
What do the women holding posters want to choose between? Doing what is right or doing what they want?
I literally thank God daily he delivered me from that dark, black, bottomless abyss of godless secularism.

I would deem it as part of God's plan that "battles" should be waged not just between faiths, but within faiths as well. It is well that it should be so, and why slapping a few more Confirmandi is a good idea too. Let's them know they're going to be the fight of their lives.
