CARE FOR OUR BODIES AND CARE FOR OUR HOME, THE EARTH—GOOD STEWARDSHIP

Pope Leo, wearing the Saturno, a gift given to him and cordially received, did so at an “Laudatio Si” event at Castel Gandolfo.

Laudatio Si is a wonderful encyclical by Pope Francis. When it was released and I was pastor of St. Joseph Church in Macon, I gave a series of talks on it at our weekly Wednesday night Church supper and catechesis.

Stewardship of the earth means care of the earth and not doing anything that permanently damages it leading to an ecological catastrophe for all life, human and otherwise , in a premature way.

Pope Leo knows the earth is made for man but mankind must care for the earth, use its resources in moderation, respecting, not worshiping, the ground on which we dig, walk and live!

With that said, Lifesite has an interesting article on the disorders of sodomy. While the article is somewhat clinical and thus meant for mature audiences, I think that it would have been a better article and less strident against suffering homosexuals and thus less ideological, if it had focused on stewardship of our bodies and not doing anything unnatural that damages our bodies. Disordered affections can lead to damaging disordered physical acts.

Apart from sodomy, this would include mutilation of our bodies through excessive plastic surgeries, piercings, tattoos and amputations like genital mutilation chemically or surgically of young people who are gender confused and thus need psychiatric, spiritual and moral counseling, not permanent damage to their bodies and minds.

We can think, too, to other illicit or disordered sex acts that can lead to throat cancer.

We too can think of properly eating food and drink within moderation and avoiding that which kills us prematurely, like the highly processed foods we have in the USA that most people eat the most of avoiding that which is healthy.

So, with that said, read this “R” rated article meant for mature audiences; press the title:

Science agrees with the Catholic Church: Homosexuality is disordered (It should have been sodomy and unnatural sex acts are disordered and immoral as heterosexuals also practice sodomy and unnatural sex acts.)

As a counterbalance to this article, I prefer the purely Catholic approach to this as written by Archbishop Charles Chaput in September of 2019 when His Excellency was still the Archbishop of Philadelphia. It is a critique of Fr. James Martin, SJ who had given a talk in Philadelphia.

You can read it HERE.

Science most certainly does not agree that homosexuality is disordered. Science now understands that homosexuality is a natural variant of human sexuality.

Nooo! That is contested by others. No 100% concurrence on that by any stretch of the LGBTQ+++ imagination….

It is crucially important to understand that saying a person has a particular inclination that is disordered is not to say that the person as a whole is disordered. Nor does it mean that one has been rejected by God or the Church. Sometimes the Church is misinterpreted or misrepresented as teaching that persons with homosexual inclinations are objectively disordered, as if everything about them were disordered or rendered morally defective by this inclination.

The only “scientists” that don’t agree are cranks. Same with climate change denialists.

Fr. ALLAN McDonald - Your understanding of science is, well,
DISORDERED + + + + + . There is never 100% concurrence among scientists about anything. You see, that's part of the beauty of science. We understand what we understand, we know what we know. But we are ALWAYS open to the possibility that your understanding and knowledge can evolve, change, grow, or even be corrected.

There are a few Catholic scientists out there who, much to the embarrassment of Holy Mother Church and scientists everywhere, maintain that the earth is the center of the solar system. So, while there may be 99.999% agreement, there are always a few fringy folks.

-- Pope Leo XIV: No More Benefit of the Doubt

From the 4:20 mark, to the 11:00 mark, John-Henry Westen, Father Charles Murr, as well as LifeSiteNews journalist Frank Wright, denounced Pope Leo XIV for having granted an audience to Father Martin, S.J.

The claim is that Pope Leo XIV is aware that Father Martin has opposed the Faith. Nevertheless, His Holiness has refused to correct Father Martin's supposed war against the Faith.

Pope Leo XIV, via his having granted Father Martin an audience, has scandalized, as well as confused, the Faithful supposedly.

Mention had been made as well of Sister Lucia Caram's recent audience with His Holiness. One source has claimed that Sister Caram has long supported "abortion, same-sex 'marriage,' and contraception."

In regard to my previous comment: My point is that I believe that one should exercise caution in regard to LifeSiteNews.

I am not keen to trust their reports/commentaries.

INAUGURAL CELEBRATION OF THE LAUDATO SI' VILLAGE

HOMILY OF HIS HOLINESS POPE LEO XIV

Borgo Laudato si' (Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo)'
Friday, September 5, 2025

=======

In regard to Papal teachings related to care for creation: Pope Leo XIV's homily yesterday focused upon Pope Francis' (requiescat in pace) teachings in question.

But we can declare factually that Pope Francis' teachings in question were in line with teachings espoused by his two immediate predecessors.

Therefore, Pope Leo XIV has taught in continuity with his three immediate predecessors.

Pope Leo XIV promoted Pope Francis' Encyclical Laudato si, Apostolic Exhortation Laudate Deum, as well as Message for the 10th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Pope Leo XIV made his own teachings that certain Pope Francis critics had dismissed as commie, anti-American, anti-first-world nation, tree-hugging nonsense.

Pope Leo XIV:

"The Borgo Laudato si', which we are inaugurating today, is one of the Church's initiatives aimed at realizing this "vocation to be custodians of God's work": a demanding but beautiful and fascinating task, which constitutes a primary aspect of the Christian experience.

"Borgo Laudato si' is a seed of hope, which Pope Francis has left us as a legacy, a "seed that can bear fruits of justice and peace".

"And it will do so by remaining faithful to its mandate: to be a tangible model of thought, structure, and action, capable of fostering ecological conversion through education and catechesis.

"And all this cannot fail to speak to us of God."

Speaking of Pope Leo XIV and his promotion of good stewardship:

His Holiness, September 1, 2025 A.D:

"On all sides, injustice, violations of international law and the rights of peoples, grave inequalities and the greed that fuels them are spawning deforestation, pollution and the loss of biodiversity.

"Extreme natural phenomena caused by climate changes provoked by human activity are growing in intensity and frequency, to say nothing of the medium and long-term effects of the human and ecological devastation being wrought by armed conflicts."

The field of psychology has extensively studied homosexuality as a human sexual orientation. The American Psychiatric Association listed homosexuality in the DSM-I in 1952 as a "sociopathic personality disturbance,"[1] but that classification came under scrutiny in research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. That research and subsequent studies consistently failed to produce any empirical or scientific basis for regarding homosexuality as anything other than a natural and normal sexual orientation that is a healthy and positive expression of human sexuality.[2] As a result of this scientific research, the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from the DSM-II in 1973. Upon a thorough review of the scientific data, the American Psychological Association followed in 1975 and also called on all mental health professionals to take the lead in "removing the stigma of mental illness that has long been associated" with homosexuality.

The consensus of scientific research and clinical literature demonstrate that same-sex attractions, feelings, and behaviors are normal and positive variations of human sexuality.[4] There is now a large body of scientific evidence that indicates that being gay, lesbian, or bisexual is compatible with normal mental health and social adjustment.

Although the genetic cause (assuming it's genetic) for homosexuality remains unknown, biological studies show that homosexuality exists across species, and even more surprisingly, in the same relative proportions (in some cases) when compared with humans.

In the 1950s and 1960s, many therapists offered aversion therapy of the kind featured in A Clockwork Orange to "cure" male homosexuality. This typically involved showing patients pictures of naked men while giving them electric shocks or drugs to make them vomit, and, once they could no longer bear it, showing them pictures of naked women or sending them out on a "date" with a young nurse. Needless to say, these cruel and degrading methods proved entirely ineffective.

First published in 1968, DSM-II (the second edition of the American classification of mental disorders, and a forerunner of DSM-5) still listed homosexuality as a mental disorder. In this, the DSM followed in a long tradition in medicine and psychiatry, which in the nineteenth century appropriated homosexuality from the Church and, in what must have seemed like an élan of enlightenment, promoted it from sin to mental disorder.

All of the major medical organizations, including The American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics agree that homosexuality is not an illness or disorder, but a form of sexual expression.

The APA writes:
Same-sex sexual attractions, behavior, and orientations per se are normal and positive variants of human sexuality—in other words, they do not indicate either mental or developmental disorders. (Glassgold et al. 2009, 2)
They explain that by “normal” they mean “both the absence of a mental disorder and the presence of a positive and healthy outcome of human development” (Glassgold et al. 2009, 11). The authors writing for the APA believe that the previous claim “has a significant empirical foundation” (Glassgold et al. 2009, 15).
