Summorum Pontificum at Saint Joseph Church, Macon, Georgia, and supported by Pope Benedict XVI, encouraged by His Holiness, and the local Bishop of Savannah at the time!
If this is true, and it appears to be so, this is the biggest liturgical scandal since the forced implementation of the reforms of the liturgies of the Church in the most pre-Vatican II authoritarian way beginning in 1965, lies the basis for Traditionis Custodes!
Recently, Pope Leo XIV meeting with representatives of the Eastern Orthodox Church, said that his desire is for full communion once again with the Churches of the East. He is willing to do what it takes to reestablish full communion and end the Great Schism in union with the College of Bishops of the Church.
But how in the Name of God and all that is Holy, could the Eastern Orthodox have any confidence or trust that Rome and any pope would not to do them what they did to the Roman Latin Rite after Vatican II? What one Pope, Pope Francis, did to another Pope, Pope Benedict and to those who embrace the TLM as a result of Pope Benedict's liturgical genius?
If Pope Leo can't bring the SSPX into regular union with the papacy, a semi-schismatic group, that has far more in full communion with the Catholic Church than all Eastern Orthodox Churches, how can His Holiness expect full communion with the Eastern Orthodox who will never, ever accept the Second Vatican Council as it has been implemented since 1965?
The pope would have to say it isn't important for the Eastern Churches to accept any ecumenical council after the Great Schism, including the Second Vatican Council and thus full communion could be achieved with some of the orthodox national churches.
But how can Rome be trusted, in particular the pope, when we see that Pope Francis relying on lies, perhaps given to him by Andrea Grillo, now disgraced modernist liturgist, who crafted Traditionis Custodes to humiliate Pope Benedict when he was still living and overthrow his generous allowance of the TLM with the hope of developing a new unified Roman Missal in the future?
The overthrowing of Pope Benedict's liturgical magisterium was based on lies.
This is a scandal!
Only Pope Leo XIV can overturn Traditionis Custodes which is invalid because of the lies therein, repent for the papacy's part in this scandalous, corrupt and sinful act, apologize to Pope Benedict and those who are now persecuted for embracing another pope's generosity called Summorum Pontificum!
Rorate Caeli is reporting on what another Vaticanista, Diane Montagna, has uncovered and it is huge!
"Summorum Pontificum itself foresaw a report, in order to adjust any issues with implementation -- and the report now obtained was generally positive. As Diane Montagna reports:
The previously undisclosed text, which forms a crucial part of the official report by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on its 2020 consultation of bishops concerning Summorum Pontificum, reveals that “the majority of bishops who responded to the questionnaire stated that making legislative changes to Summorum Pontificum would cause more harm than good.”
The overall assessment directly contradicts, therefore, the stated rationale for imposing Traditionis Custodes and raises serious questions about its credibility.

Both of these narratives have obvious problems and will hardly take away from what you, Fr. AJM, aptly call "the biggest liturgical scandal" since the 1960s. Andrea Grillo is really having a rough couple weeks, having recently been thrown under the bus by the Anselmo for his bizarre article attacking soon-to-be-canonized Bl. Carlo Acutis' Eucharistic devotion.

It's that simple. Who was responsible--Pope Francis or Cardinal Roche? Probably both, but ultimately, the responsibility rests with the pope.
THAT is the pedigree of Francis. THAT is the pedigree of liberal Catholicism, going all the way back to the misreprentation and misinterpretation of Vatican II.
The pedigree of our Church since 1963 is dishonesty. All the bishops and priests who foisted their shamelesss agenda upon us will surely have some excuse, butg they're never going to admit they're wrong. After all, that would require humility.
Malachi Martin was right. There is a "superforce" at work in the Vatican and we must pray that God sends us a pope and supportive bishops who will confront that force once and for all. We cannot survive on dishonesty.

As an aside, it is worth noting that even the French bishops' feedback, somehow touted as a "devastating" (Mike Lewis) condemnation of SP, does not itself espouse (or arguably, even support) something like Traditionis Custodes as the solution.

Although I generally support the availability of the two Forms and could never quite understand why the EF was suppressed in the first place instead of being permitted alongside the OF, I do have some questions about the texts involved here:
First, why is it assumed that Pope Francis was lying? Traditionis Custodes clearly states:
“At this time, having considered the wishes expressed by the episcopate and having heard the opinion of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, I now desire, with this Apostolic Letter, to press on ever more in the constant search for ecclesial communion. Therefore, I have considered it appropriate to establish the following:”
(By the way, the link for the CDF Opinion results in “Error 404 Page Not Found,” which is a pity because I would like to read it.)
Second, assuming the Diane Montagna Substack documents are in fact authentic (a point the AP article cited in a later thread leaves open for the moment), the purported CDF Collection of Quotations seems suspiciously selective. Almost all are from the United States and Britain, Germany and France, with a few from elsewhere. Where, then, are the quotes from bishops in other parts of the world, especially the bishops in Spanish speaking regions who, according to the purported Overall Assessment “seem to show little interest in the MP Summorum Pontificum.” Are they so uninterested that they couldn’t be bothered to respond? Or (more likely) has Diane Montagna or Rorate Caeli conveniently omitted their responses? And where are the responses from “Italian bishops [which] suggest that, overall, they do not hold the Forma extraordinaria and its related provisions in high regard, with a few exceptions.” The exceptions are quoted but almost none of the other responses.
In sum, while everyone is cranking up the outrage machine, caveat lector!
I suggest we await an official response from the Vatican before accusing Pope Francis of lying or gullibly accepting sources cited by Rorate Caeli (no Francis fan to be sure) at face value.

Thank you for having promoted the Catholic Way. That is, you have rejected the rush-to-judgment, Pope-Francis-is-a-liar, Traditionis Custodes is built upon falsehoods, guilty verdict that certain folks have pronounced against Pope Francis (requiescat in pace).
In regard to the sensationalistic claims that pertain to the story at hand:
In your usual eloquent, judicious fashion, you have reminded us that we are best served when we practice prudence and patience. The alternative is react in knee-jerk, lynch mob fashion, to the current claims that have been lodged against Pope Francis.

That is warranted most certainly as Rorate Caeli has a history of having promoted supposed "smoking gun" claims against Pope Francis that had fizzled quickly into fake news.
