Whether heresy or not, doesn't it suggest Pope Benedict suffered from "rigidity," a "taste for clerical ostentation," and "mental imbalance, emotional deviation, behavioral difficulties, a personal problem"? After all, he approved of costly tailoring and that damned lace! (Golly gee, yet another snark about lace. Where exactly is the "mental imbalance, emotional deviation, behavioral difficulties, a personal problem"?)
Aren't we so blessed to have such a kind and gentle leader, who accuses people he doesn't understand of psychological problems? What a source of unity! It's as if the prodigal son returned home and the father started hitting the son who had stayed home. One happy, uniform family!
I don't know if you saw Biden's farewell "speech" decrying all of the oligarchs running things, but Victor Davis Hanson, one of the few pundits worth listening to had this to say:
“The subtext of that was that all of the so-called oligarchs that supported him in 2020 got tired of him.”
“Mark Zuckerberg gave him $419 million to warp the 2020 election in key states, and he had no problem with that oligarch.
“Reid Hoffman, another billionaire, funded the E Jean Carroll lawsuit to go after Donald Trump. He had no problem with that oligarch.”
“He gave the Medal of Freedom citizen freedom to George Soros, who pretty much did his best to destroy the criminal justice system in our big cities.”
“So he’s not credible.”
“And when he talks about misinformation, the FBI conspired with Facebook to censor stories about the laptop that were that it was authentic, which it was.
“And then 51 so-called authorities, supplied him on the prompt of Anthony Blinken before the debate with Donald Trump in 2020, to lie that it was Russian disinformation.”
TJM quotes David Hanson’s claim that “Mark Zuckerberg gave [Biden] $419 million to warp the 2020 election in key states.” This appears to be highly misleading at best and a blatant lie at worst. Here are the facts:
As a self-proclaimed Catholic, you should be ashamed of yourself, TJM. I thought we were not supposed to commit, or propagate, intrinsic evils like lying.
Pope Benedict XVI: "What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. "
I have noted the following a few times:
The Church had, for centuries, viewed Her ancient (Western Church) Good Friday Prayer for Jews as sacred and great. Despite that, Pope Benedict XVI viewed said prayer as unacceptable. He insisted that the prayer in question had served as a "wound" to Jews. Therefore, Pope Benedict XVI removed said prayer from the Roman Liturgy.
In turn, various "traditionalists" insisted that Pope Benedict XVI lacked the authority to have discarded a prayer that earlier generations had held as sacred.
Pope Benedict XVI's declaration in question has also been employed against Pope Venerable Pius XII's liturgical reforms. There is a growing movement among "traditionalists" to view said Pope's liturgical reforms as having trampled that which earlier generations had held as sacred.
Actually, Pope Benedict XVI's declaration in question has been employed by folks who have insisted that the overall liturgical reform, from the 20th Century to date, is illegitimate.
Mark, Pope Benedict was speaking about the suppression of the previous rites of the Church, the order of the Mass, historical prayers, intrinsic to the Mass, not one general intercession said once a year on Good Friday. He was not condemning all change but wanted change in continuity. Of course, you have a point when taking your logic to its conclusion. Pope Francis insists that those in illicit sexual unions have no need to repent but should be free to live their immoral/amoral lives. This is especially true of homosexuals and so-called transsexuals. Pope Francis has said little to nothing about traditional Catholic sexual morality and the nature of the marital act, i.e. sexual intercourse. Nor has he called out perverted forms of sex that anyone can commit. That would be rigid and the only people to be condemned are the rigid. But Pope Francis new morality, negating the old, is what you are implying and that it is just fine.
Father McDonald, in regard to your interpretation of Pope Benedict XVI's declaration in question: The problem is that amongst numerous "traditionalists," your interpretation in question does not appear upon their collective radar screen.
The unfortunate reality is that Pope Benedict XVI's declaration in question has been interpreted/weaponized to justify said folks' war against the Church's liturgical reform. That includes liturgical reforms that Popes Saint Pius X, as well as Venerable Pius XII, initiated.
Again, even Pope Benedict XVI words in question have been employed to denounce/reject his reform of the Good Friday Prayer for Jews.

Of course it is true. Only obstinate liturgical lefties reject this statement all in the name of promoting a failed liturgical model.

Nick, that was comedy gold! Holy, Holy, Holy!

If that is the caliber of David Hanson’s reporting, I will not even bother fact-checking his other claims but leave it to others to do so.

Pravda! Truth!
Every photo of him fills me with a fondness that I haven't felt in a long time.
