I was totally amazed by Judge Clifton Newman’s handling of the Murdaugh trial. You can read an article on him HERE.
But what he said at sentencing to Murdaugh here was fantastic:
“Within your own soul, you have to deal with that. And I know you have to see Paul and Maggie during the night time when you’re attempting to go to sleep and I’m sure they come and visit you.”
“All day, and every night,” said Murdaugh, who maintained his innocence during the sentencing hearing.
“And they will continue to do so and reflect on the last time they looked you in the eyes,” the judge then replied.

I still have such a hard time understanding this. To kill your spouse and child, you have to be either demonic or mentally ill. May God have mercy on his soul. The judge's words were very moving.
