Great to see the children receiving Holy Communion in the normative manner

My GOODNESS! Is that priest wearing the kind of sandals that you, Fr. McDonald, complained and complained about your former bishop wearing?

Oh, the horror!

Closed Minded K,

Is that all you can contribute?

Thank you Father for instructing these children in--as Pierre says--the normative manner.

The universal norm for Communion in the Catholic Church is ON THE TONGUE. But given the way most parishes catechize youth and adults, you'd think it was exactly the opposite.

I pray that one day the indult for hand reception will be revoked once and for all.

Anyway, thank you for your solid witness and example. May other priests and laity take notice.

Wow, that’s not how I usually see first communion ! You should distribute the photos as instructional material to some of the less fortunate parishes throughout the USA.

Because of the army, I have parishioners from all over the place. After our First Communion Mass, a couple from the Boston area were thrilled with the formality and reverence, solemnity, of the Mass and that it was geared to the First Communicants but not childish. We had our normal choir sing at this Mass with normal music, nothing child-like sounding.

The Boston couple told me how casual the parishes are there in general and for First Communion in particular. Lots of chaos.

There were please that the rehearsal I led instilled in the children the seriousness of this occasion and to be well-behaved and reverent. My rehearsals for both First Communion and Confirmation are finished in about 30 minutes usually.
