Certain folks within and without the Church trashed Pope Francis for his having not spoken, at least until now, in regard to the "Vigano Testimonies" that pertained to the Archbishop's claims about McCarrick.
Father McDonald, almost alone in regard to the following, noted last year:
The Vigano/McCarrick Saga pertains every bit as much, if not to a greater degree, to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as the Saga pertains to Pope Francis.
Father McDonald noted that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI could also speak about Vigano's claims in question that pertain to McCarrick.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI could clear up in a second the claims about McCarrick that Archbishop Vigano issued via his (Vigano's) "Testimonies."
Why has Pope Benedict XVI, who has not hesitated to have spoken about this or that Church-related issue, refused to have cleared the air in regard to the Vigano/McCarrick Saga?
Why has Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI not revealed as to why he refused to have enforced the restrictions that he imposed upon then-Cardinal McCarrick.
Mark, Pope Benedict is emeritus; Pope Francis isn't. It is possible that Pope Francis has ordered Benedict not to speak on the topic. Who knows. But Benedict isn't pope. The POPE has a responsibility to be transparent about this humongous scandal and he isn't. He's the pope.
Father McDonald, I appreciate your comment about Pope Francis is Pope...Emeritus is not.
However, the "scandal" in question is far more related to Pope Benedict XVI than to Pope Francis.
1. Pope Benedict XVI imposed the restrictions in question upon then-Cardinal McCarrick.
But that information, having been presented during the past few days as a "bombshell" that has vindicated Vigano supposedly, was confirmed last year via Rome's "Open Letter" to Archbishop Vigano.
Cardinal Ouellete's "Open Letter" to Vigano noted that restrictions to some degree — not to the degree (canonical sanctions) that Vigano had pretended — had been placed upon McCarrick.
Archbishop Vigano lied when he claimed that "canonical sanctions," then, "sanctions"...he then admitted that the "sanctions" never existed...had been placed upon then-Cardinal McCarrick.
2. Yes. Pope Francis is Pope. However, despite his having claimed that he would disappear from view, Pope Emeritus Benedict has not hesitated to speak publicly about this, that, and the other thing.
Father McDonald, you even noted that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, as compared to Pope Francis, is every bit involved, perhaps to a greater degree, in the Vigano/McCarrick Saga.
Father, you noted that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI could resolve the issue at hand. He could speak to the issue in question.
Anyway, this matter is upon Pope Benedict XVI as he imposed restrictions — restrictions that weren't enforced — upon McCarrick.
It was during Pope Benedict XVI's reign that McCarrick, a sexual predator, despite having been served with Pope Benedict XVI's restrictions in question, roamed the world.
Therefore, it is perverse that various forces have assaulted His Holiness Pope Francis in regard to restrictions placed upon McCarrick that were not enforced during Pope Benedict XVI's reign.

Anonymous, not that anybody cares about the following, but after having read Father McDonald's blog during the past few years, everything that I've gathered in my heart and mind about Father McDonald is that he's a holy man.
Father's statement in question is baseless. Yes. But...at least for me...I don't think that we need to conclude that Father McDonald had sought to damage Pope Francis.
That said, I am puzzled as to why Father McDonald offered such a off-the-chart possibility — that Pope Francis silenced Emeritus.
Emeritus had led us to believe that following his resignation as Pope, that he would disappear from view. However, from that time to date, Emeritus has commented publicly upon this, that, and the other thing.
In addition, Pope Francis has encouraged Emeritus' public contributions in question.
Therefore, the speculation that Pope Francis has silenced Emeritus in regard to the Vigano/McCarrick Saga is, again, off the charts...doesn't make any sense.
Anyway, Archbishop Vigano's "Testimonies" have made Pope Benedict XVI look very, very bad.
From 2008 A.D. to his 2013 A.D. resignation, Pope Benedict XVI permitted sexual predator McCarrick, who had been "sanctioned" by Pope Benedict XVI, according to Vigano, to wave off said "sanctions"...to roam the world.
The Vigano/McCarrick Saga is upon Emeritus' shoulders.
But incredibly, Vigano, and his "V is for Vigano," Pope Francis-hating forces, have pinned upon Pope Francis the refusal of Pope Benedict XVI to have enforced the "sanctions" that Pope Benedict XVI had placed upon McCarrick.
I don't know why, but when I read "Bose Conference" and saw that horrid liturgical design in the photo, I thought for a moment that it was a reference to the Bose speaker systems for their unorthodox design.
Then again, that would be more likely from Bang & Olufsen.
Statement of fact: “Pope Benedict is emeritus; Pope Francis isn't...The POPE has a responsibility to be transparent about this humongous scandal and he isn't. He's the pope.”
Statement of personal opinion: “This is an utterly baseless statement that is, I think, meant to damage Pope Francis.”

I don't believe that we are dealing with a "scandal."
What we have dealt with is that Pope Francis has been attacked, blamed — whatever — for Pope Benedict XVI having placed unenforced "restrictions" upon then-Cardinal McCarrick.
Here is the bottom line question:
Why did Pope Benedict XVI not enforce the restrictions that he had placed upon then-Cardinal McCarrick.

It should be taken down.

Henry Miller, when I saw Bose Conference I thought it was about Bose speakers too, at first!

Statement of fact from Pope Francis: "I will not say one other word about this!"
Until of course there is another interview that will be an incoherent as all the others, which is a statement of fact too.

“Until of course there is another interview that will be an incoherent as all the others, which is a statement of fact too.”
Exactly so, and THAT’s a fact!
Congratulations to all of the readers here with enough sense not to bother responding to you know who.
Keep it up. Sooner or later, he WILL go away. Without the audience, he won't perform.
