Two of the hazards living along the Georgia and South Carolina coast---gators and snakes---and not far off from there, sharks and jellyfish! I assume Father M does not plan any baptisms in such waters!!!!
Gene, one snake that gives gators a run for their money is the Burmese Python, down in the south Florida swamps. The snakes are a plague on that area and breed like rats---they will eat gators, deer and about anything else! Obviously they are not native to Florida--doubtless some fool dumped them when they got too big, just how we sometimes end up with gators in the Atlanta area.
Humorous when Yankees move to the south Atlantic coast and find gators in the back yard, wanting them removed! Part of the territory as they say!

Looks like a Banded Water Snake. Gators will eat snakes...and almost anything else they can catch.
I love this stuff! Swamps are awesome places to learn humility. Fast.
