Too few, too few. If the Catholic Church functioned as it did before its "new springtime", the worldwide acceptance of homosexuality, contraception and abortion would not be. The Church once had a unified, mighty voice. Now we are an archaic whimper mocked by society and toothless in our discipline.m Where are our bishops? Where is the pope? Where are the Catholics who should be marching in opposition? I can answer the last question: They are waiting for leaders.
Anonymous, The pope and bishops promote the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which teaches that homosexuality is intrinsically disordered, and that contraception and abortion are sinful. The bishops of Mexico were united in their opposition to the constitution as it was applied in the 1920's, but it still took 70 years to overcome its hostile provisions. Pius XI spoke out firmly against Fascism and Nazism in the 30's, but alas...
"Promoting the catechism" ias not enough. That is just passive and meaningless. The Church needs to be aggressive against these things and the Pope and bishops are afraid to offend anyone.
The problem is with the loss of Catholic identity. The devastation is so far-reaching and the Vat II mentality so deeply entrenched that it will take extensive fundamental changes to correct it. It must begin with the Liturgy. If you don't fix the Liturgy, you cannot fix the Church. I think more and more people are beginning to see this.
Lawsuits don't mean a damn thing. The lawyers get to play and make money, things drag on forever, then the administration will either ignore the ruling or find a way around it.
I'm talking about aggressively teaching that homosexuality is an abomination, abortion is murder, gay marriage is evil, and illegal immigrants are breaking our laws and should be deported.
Fr JBS wrote "Pius XI spoke out firmly against Fascism and Nazism in the 30's, but alas" If you are insinuating that if someone doesn't listen to the Pope then he should stop speaking against these things that reasoning is wrong. If you mean something else please explain because Christ never said if people don't listen to you then shut up. He never said if people don't like to hear what you say, shut up. Christ never said that if what you are saying making grown people uncomfortable then shut up. Christ never said that if the churches aren't filled then shut up. Christ said to go out to the whole world and preach the Gospel and if they refuse to listen to you in one town shake the dust from your sandals and go on to the next.

Gene - What may might that "aggressiveness" look like?

Blessed are the aggressive for they shall rule the meek.
Anon, they're (as a collective whole) pushing immigration reform ;)
Good for this priest to stand up, may there be more, and an ending to the Gospel of Political correctness
“The Pope and bishops are afraid to offend anyone”
That must be why the Church is bringing all those lawsuits (sarcasm alert).

Better tell the Bishops, Gene, before they waste any more money.
