This is the first image I've seen of the Macon's Cathedral taken from this angle. It was taken more than likely between 1915 and 1920. Please note how the original pipe organ hides the magnificent rose window. The new organ is built around it now, revealing it completely.
Also note the weird confessionals on the right and left at the back of the church, completely open where the laity kneel to confess with the priest hidden. I had been told that confessionals were there at one time, but this is the first evidence of it for me!
Also note the wooden pulpit with its acoustical shell in the right front of the photo! That too is lost.

Looks like there pews lined up all the way down with no passage way after fifth or sixth row.
tehe "Cathedral"
Yes, the post card of toward the altar also says that! The pew that was in the place where the passage now is is at the back of the Church. If you go back there, you'll note that the last pew is actually on the marble floor, which it shouldn't be. IT was place there when it was removed for the passage way.
RATS! I was hoping an old pic might solve the mystery of the pencil-sized holes through the window frames!
cathedral?
