THE HOLY FATHER MEETS WITH MY NEW BISHOP, AND RETIRED BISHOP AND THE BISHOPS OF OUR REGION FOR THE AD LIMINA MEETING AT THE VATICAN

Our new bishop, Bishop Gregory John Hartmayer is on the left, closest to the camera and Bishop Boland is on the right directly opposite. I'm sure the Holy Father is speaking about my blog, ad orientem, kneeling for Holy Communion, by intinction and liberalizing the EF Mass for those who spiritually benefit from it.

I am sure that the Holy Father's topmost thoughts were praise for your good works online. ;)

And whaddya know, Archbishop Wilton (our metropolitan!) and Bishop Guglielmone (my bishop!) are dressed incorrectly! What a great image!

Archbishop Wilton is in a cape-less house cassock unlike any of the other prelates. Bishop Guglielmone's cape is too short and his fascia is too low.

I will pray for their sartorial conundrums.

Anyway, I hope verily that the Pope was talking about all those things you mentioned, especially this blog, while admonishing the bishops' knowledge of protocol!

Fr. McDonald: "I'm sure the Holy Father is speaking about . . . "

Not only clairvoyant, but also a lip reader! Pretty impressive, especially since you only had a still photo to work with.

It's never good when the boss talks about you to another boss. But if they think this was all their idea....

Wouldn't it be nice if what you write about this meeting, Father, was really true?

However, as to "liberalizing" the EF Mass, I thought that has, in theory, already been done with Summorum Pontificum. The problem ever since has been making what has been allowed since 2007 be reasonably available in our Diocese so that more people can become familiar with the EF, for its own sake, as well as for the benefit of reforming the OF.

I hope and pray every day that our new Bishop will see fit to take initiatives in this direction such as offering workshops for priests to learn to celebrate the EF (as some other bishops have already done). Further, I would hope that he would try to foster and cultivate the EF being spread at strategic points throughout the Diocese so that all Catholics who desire it can do so within a reasonable travel distance and on some kind of regularly scheduled basis.

I know that Hispanic ministry is a big priority, especially in the rural areas, but the EF could be worked into that as well. It could serve yet another purpose by being something that could bring different language groups together. This would be so much better than the difficult to follow bi-lingual Masses that we often must endure on Holy Days!
