COMPARING STYLES OF MUSIC AND OF LITURGY, THE NEW AND THE OLD AND IN THAT ORDER BELOW!

This is the offertory procession and music at the dedication of the Holy Family Basilica in Spain, which Pope Benedict presided over several months ago. This is the way Mass in the Ordinary Form could and should be. It is the modern new way of doing it:

(I might add that if one is going to use the "Benedictine" altar arrangement facing the people, this is the best way to do it. The candles and the cross facing the Holy Father, are low, understated and do not become a barrier or look like jail bars. Keep in mind in this magnificent new/old Basilica there is a huge cross hanging over the altar from the ceiling.)

And now for the old fashioned way of celebrating the Ordinary Form of the Mass. I don't mean to denigrate now retired Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles. He was the archbishop of the largest archdiocese in the country and certainly the most diverse culturally and ethnically. Because of that he certainly was on the forefront of older ways of incultruation of the Mass. The video below shows this tried but not necessarily needed form of inculturation. I wonder if the new Archbishop Gomes will allow this form of the Mass to continued at the Archdiocesan annual and huge Religious Education Week? Time will tell.

The now old and pre-historic way to celebrate the Ordinary Form of the Mass:

It looks like a pagan ritual in LA..How is that in continuity with centuries past? I just wonder how many people go along with this becaus eit is all there is and then turn on a Papal Liturgy from ROme and think "I wish that was my parish".

When I was child in New York City I was subjected to "It's a Small World After All" at the 1965 world's fair. I wonder if that was actually a trial for the New Music of the Rupture of Vatican II only a few short year's later.

No, it was the beginning of Disney's globalist, egalitarian, homosexual, socialist agenda with which they are now inundating our kids and grandkids. Responsible parents should block the Disney Channel. When we went with our grandkids last year, English was the minority language. It is ridiculous. The place was filled with the wogs, burkas, and turbans of people who hate the West but rush to enjoy its benefits. I was completely disgusted and certainly not in a state of grace by the time we left.

Father you are right, the one in L.A. is actually more ancient than the one the pope is at. I think it goes all the way back to the time of Moses when the "people rose up to play". The only thing missing is the golden calf. Where are the Levites when you need them?

Pin. Fess up. Don't you really miss him? It would be especially enlightening if he were to candidly comment on Frajm's recent entries about Biblical exegesis and about the new translation.
