Macon has more Yoshino Cherry Trees than Washington, DC. These are beginning to bloom now and with temperature at about 86 on Friday, they will really pop! The nearly two week festival brings people from all over the country and world to Macon. Since these Cherry Trees originated in Japan, our prayers and thoughts go to them as they continue to experience and survive their natural catastrophe.
Everyone in Macon wears Pink. Pink is in; green is out!

Fr McDonald, here in Augusta there is this event called First Thursdays that is held at the MonteSano block where St. Mary's is. On that evening the block is closed for traffic and the vendors have goodies for people to try, and there is usually a band or entertainment of sorts. In any event, as it happened last month, people were attending the event and wanted to go into St Mary's to visit. Turns out four people came back to the Church, that day. They were asking for a priest, went to Confession and now are back home! The Catholics Come Home Banner is still outside our church. I guess the reason I am telling you this is that if there will be many visitors in Macon for that week, it might be a food idea for the priests to just be "around" and welcome visitors. Specially now with the Catholics Come Home campaign over, this might be the last nudge they need to come back to the Church. Just a thought!
