Stewardship Rally!

I was honored to be the speaker at Sacred Heart Church in Warner Robins for their Stewardship dinner. Over 450 adults participated in a wonderful meal as a part of their annual stewardship renewal of treasure. My message basically centered on the fact that Catholic Stewardship has been in Catholic parishes ever since there have been Catholic parishes. People have always responded to God's call to give of their time, talent and treasure. The four main pillars of Catholic Stewardship, Prayer, Catholic Formation, Christian Service and Hospitality have always been hallmarks of Catholic parishes. Catholic Stewardship simply names them for what they are and encourages people to give of themselves in an organized, methodical way.

Catholic Stewardship has engaged more people into their faith and helped them to grow in their Catholic identity. As the old Baltimore Catechism teaches, the reason why God made us is to "Know, love and serve Jesus Christ in this life and to be happy with Him forever in the life to come." Folks, that's Catholic Stewardship in a nutshell--nothing new in that!
