All the main media persisted in stating in coverage that the coffin was transported by the popemobile, utterly unwilling to make the slightest admission that their former darling was being hauled off in a pick'em-up truck with an awning, that by appearances should have been equipped with a dynamite sound system with kicker bass blasting latino music the entire route. It made the transfer of Benedict's body appear dignified in comparison.
I would call it tacky, but I suppose the narrative line is that it was humble. Not as humble as overhauling Casa Sanctae Marthae so extensively that it can't serve it's intended purpose of housing cardinals for a conclave, though.
-- Javier Milei reveals: "I apologized to Pope Francis"
"The Argentine president said he regretted the harsh criticism he addressed to the Pope in the past and that he had been forgiven."
Excerpts:
"Arrived in Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, the Argentine president Javier Milei revealed previously unpublished details about his meeting with the Pope in February 2024.
"In an interview with “Radio Mitre,” Milei said he regretted the harsh criticism he had addressed to the Pope in the past, that he had personally apologized to him and that he had received in response: “Don’t worry, they are the mistakes of youth.”
“Milei’s old accusations against Francis — who he had previously described as “the representative of evil on Earth” — resurfaced in the days following the Pope’s death, which occurred last Monday in the Vatican.
"A few hours before this morning's funeral, Milei called Francis "the most important Argentine in history" and spoke of a "huge loss" for Argentina.
"Milei remembered the Pontiff as "the spiritual leader of about 2 billion people," underlining the vastness of his role: "It is much greater than one can imagine."
========
Such "traditionalists" as New Catholic (Rorate Caeli) had delighted in the foul, Satanic attacks that Javier Milei had lodged against Pope Francis.
Said folks were happy to have reported that Javier Milei had denounced holy Pope Francis as a "filthy leftist," "communist," "imbecile," "the representative of malignance on Earth," "the devil's man on Earth."
Today, however, said folks are not keen to report Javier Milei's change of heart in regard to the love and respect that he developed for Pope Francis.
Javier Milei was of use to Pope Francis haters when said folks were able to weaponize Mister Milei against Pope Francis. But today, the Pope Francis haters do not have any use for Javier Milei.
That demonstrates the Satanic, deceitful manner in which Pope Francis haters operate. Hatred, rather than love , mercy, and forgiveness, fills their hearts and minds.
As Cardinal Sarah had made clear, the hated and attacks lodged against Pope Francis were/are the work of Satan.
-- Cardinal Sarah: To oppose the pope is to be outside the church
Deo gratias that in regard to his former hatred of Pope Francis, that Satan has been driven from President Javier Milei's heart and mind. May that apply as well to each Pope Francis hater within, and without, the Church.
Pope Francis should be apologizing for all of the nasty things he said about faithful Catholics and the chaos he caused and for failing to go after Biden and Pelosi, two big-time grifters and fake Catholics.
Please provide substantiation for the claim that traditionalists delighted in the "Satanic" things Javier Milei said.
And frankly, Cardinal Sarah's warning that some Catholics "are quick to hurl anathemas at those who do not follow their line of thought," reminds me of certain overzealous Internet denizens. It requires self-examination for more than just those you disagree with.
"As Cardinal Sarah had made clear, the hated and attacks lodged against Pope Francis were/are the work of Satan."
Reaching. Card. Sarah said to seek unity in Christ. It's not about this or that pope. In addition, Card. Sarah said regarding abuse in the Church that "the mystery of betrayal oozes from the walls of the church." If we are to take it as true that the pope has the power to personally "govern, teach, and sanctify" each individual Catholic, whither Rupnik, Zanchetta, Grossi, Daneels, McElroy, Prinicipi, McCarrick? (I don't ask for all three; just governing them would've sufficed, or at least basic decency.) Is it Satanic to point out the number of well-placed clerics, oddly Jesuit, Argentinian, or progressive, whose reputations, careers, or freedom were either actually or abortively protected, rehabilitated, or promoted in the past, say twelve years?
Anyway, Pope Francis will always be rememberd as the only pope in living memory who publicly belittled: an altar boy for being too reverent (and violated his personal space, to boot); Catholic parents for breeding like rabbits; a Cardinal of the Church for falling seriously ill; and people who prayed rosaries for him. How holy and humble.
Not mine. There are other ways of supporting the Church than throwing more money towards the financial and oversight blackhole known as the current Vatican.
As TJM shared, despite a myriad of burial options already available, the Basilica had to be hacked apart for this tomb. Selective humility. Oh well, what's done is done. Rest in peace.
Nick said..."Anyway, Pope Francis will always be remembered as the only pope in living memory who publicly belittled...Catholic parents for breeding like rabbits..."

Pope Francis did not do any such thing as that...not even close. Pope Francis' "rabbit" remark called specific attention to Humanae Vitae...and reiterated an important Church teaching.
Pope Francis said:
"Some think that, excuse me if I use that word, that in order to be good Catholics we have to be like rabbits. No. Responsible parenthood!"
=======
The following is from Humanae Vitae, the section entitled "Responsible parenthood."
10. "Married love, therefore, requires of husband and wife the full awareness of their obligations in the matter of responsible parenthood...Thus, we do well to consider responsible parenthood in the light of its varied legitimate and interrelated aspects."
"With regard to physical, economic, psychological and social conditions, responsible parenthood is exercised by those who prudently and generously decide to have more children, and by those who, for serious reasons and with due respect to moral precepts, decide not to have additional children for either a certain or an indefinite period of time."
=======
Pope Francis' "rabbit" remark was in perfect harmony with Church teaching/Humanae Vitae.
Let us get the "rabbit" remark story correct...rather than repeat the false "rabbit" remark story that was concocted to defame Pope Francis as a belittler of parents who produced large families.
Finally, Pope Francis always praised to the hilt those couples who had opted to raise large families.
Responsible parenthood...Church teaching to which Pope Francis had called proper attention.
Pope Francis introduced something new when he implied that Catholics parents need to practice something like NFP; not just may, but need to, or else they risk irresponsibility—they are being just like rabbits.
Even assuming they were perfectly in line with Church teaching, his remarks, as were many of his airplane press messes, were insensitive and irresponsible. Tone and context matter, something Francis to which was frequently, apparently oblivious. I know parents of large families who have taken many risks to be open to life questioned Francis and their decisions. It isn’t so simple to tell faithful Catholics who saw his remarks—not just press reports, but the remarks themselves—and were hurt by them to ignore their lying eyes. If you will add insult to insult, blithely dismissing the effects of such irresponsibility, just to maintain your narrative of papal impeccability, so be it. Just know you do so with unconscionable indifference to how irresponsible, glib jabs at Catholics doing things just one iota differently how from “God’s oracle” would have them do it left their marks, too.
Nick said..."Pope Francis introduced something new when he implied that Catholics parents need to practice something like NFP; not just may, but need to, or else they risk irresponsibility—they are being just like rabbits."
Pope Francis did not go beyond that which Holy Mother Church has taught via Humanae Vitae. The Church teaches that a husband and wife have a serious obligation in regard to the practice of Responsible Parenthood.
Again, from Humanae Vitae:, #10:
Responsible Parenthood
10: "Married love, therefore, requires of husband and wife the full awareness of their obligations in the matter of responsible parenthood..."

"In a word, the exercise of responsible parenthood requires that husband and wife, keeping a right order of priorities, recognize their own duties toward God, themselves, their families and human society."
"From this it follows that they are not free to act as they choose in the service of transmitting life, as if it were wholly up to them to decide what is the right course to follow.
"On the contrary, they are bound to ensure that what they do corresponds to the will of God the Creator. The very nature of marriage and its use makes His will clear, while the constant teaching of the Church spells it out."
======
Pope Francis repeated Church teaching in regard to that which the exercise of Responsible Parenthood requires...Requires. Requires.
You are always good for a laugh. If Francis was ardently pro “Humanae Vitae” why would he criticize Catholics for “breeding like rabbits?” St. Thomas Aquinus, considered Catholicism’s greatest theologian until you came along, stated that God Himself cannot resolve a contradiction but apparently you and Francis can! Quid vobis videtur?
What is "required" in Humanae Vitae is an "awareness of [the husband and wife's] obligations[,]" not a general requirement to limit the number of children they have just to avoid being "like rabbits."
Moreover, "responsible parenthood" involves both having more children and, only when serious reasons exist and "moral precepts" are followed, not having more children. There is nothing in Humanae Vitae that "requires...Requires. Requires." Catholic couples to not decide to "prudently and generously decide to have more children[]" simply because someone (even the Pope!) thinks they're being "like rabbits." In a world where Catholic couples are routinely criticized and harassed for "generously," and often with great sacrifice and faith in God, having more than the demographically-acceptable 2.1 children, imagine the damage of the pope himself criticizing them for having too many children!
Moreover, even if Humane Vitae does "require" limiting the number of children a couple has in some circumstances, those circumstances are limited to those where "serious reasons and . . . due respect to moral precepts[]" are found. That is a far cry from Humanae Vitae "requiring...Requiring. Requiring" Catholic couples in general to limit the number of children they have to an arbitrary, non-rabbit like amount, as you propose it does to square Francis' vague-at-best remarks with Catholic teaching. Unless a "serious reason" to avoid having more children is to avoid being derogatorily perceived as being "like rabbits," by the pope or by infecund secularists? Or perhaps those remarks were non-magisterial, though then we must find a way to square that with the pope allegedly being God's "mouthpiece."
If you can cite any source other than yourself and an airplane interview to support the proposition that Humanae Vitae "requires...Requires. Requires" limiting family size, please do so. Every source I have found explaining Humanae Vitae states that spacing birth practices like NFP "can" or "may" be done pursuant to that encyclical; this bespeaks the novelty of a reading of Humanae Vitae that "requires...Requires. Requires" that. The closest I know of is in Love and Responsibility that there may be circumstances requiring renunciation of further procreation--oddly, though, John Paul II (writing before he was pope) spoke of "true concern for the good of their family and a mutual sense of responsibility," not a gibe about "too many kids, stop being like rabbits!" However, it must be considered that this is not a gloss on Humanae Vitae, as the book was written before the encyclical.
Finally, Gianna Molla, who was canonized in 2004, had multiple difficult pregnancies, births, and miscarriages before dying from complications due to her final difficult pregnancy. Was she "required...Required. Required" to avoid her final pregnancy? Was she irresponsible for not recognizing that she and her husband were just being "like rabbits"? If so, why was she canonized--surely, one so imprudent couldn't be a saint? And which of her children should be considered the fruits of their sinful imprudence?
