I WAS THERE BACK THEN IN 1995!

On April 18, 1995, Bishop J. Kevin Boland was consecrated and installed as the thirteenth Bishop of the Diocese of Savannah. He served as bishop until his retirement in 2011. Happy anniversary, Bishop Boland!

The consecration photo of Bishop Boland seems to show instead a side view of you at your current age.

If I'm not mistaken, the bishop placing the miter on his head is John F Donaghue. He was the 2nd bishop of Charlotte (and the one who ordained me) and then made archbishop of Atlanta.

Yes indeed. He was the Metropolitan Archbishop of Atlanta and the principal consecrator.

I hope you were not offended, but only thought with that photo and angle, that the resemblance was remarkable...

I am 65, in really good shape for that age, but, if you feel I deserved a comeuppance for the remark, it already was applied preemptively last Sunday after Mass when I stopped at a store. Always when I stop there on the way home, the same young and very sweet girl is there, and I inquired to her age, thinking her a late teen, and was suprised to find she was 26, and told her so, and for her to enjoy it while it lasted. I asked her how old she thought I might be, and she replied, "hmmm...80?"

Archbishop Donaghue was a fine man and a great Catholic. He has been the best bishop of Atlanta in my lifetime.

Thought so. He was a good man - we hated to loose him.
