The pope who often complains about people talking too much, talks too much His Holiness’ himself. This time on his plane ride back to Rome, he told a secret that no longer is a secret if the pope breaks the seal of secrecy.
I don’t think I would want to go to Confession to this pope, but I digress.
So the secret that the pope broke and teased the reporters with all the good things he is doing, is that there are secret negotiations going on the end the war in Ukraine.
But the tease could not give any more information on it because it is a secret.
But this this bombshell from Ukraine as reported by Pravda of all sources. Perhaps the pope is thinking about himself when he decries people who talk too much?

On 27 April, Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, met with Pope Francis at the Vatican and gave him a photo album depicting Russian crimes in Ukraine.

The empty cassock is on the loose again. Shortly, his chief PR spokesman, Mark Thomas, will be issuing a series of non sequiturs and holy, holies, totally unrelated to the Pope's statements.
It could simply be over stated or blown out of proportion. The press release didn’t sound as if the Vatican was negotiating on behalf of The Ukraine but was facilitating discussions. It could mean acting as intermediary.

I think of then-Cardinal Ratzinger's 2003 A.D. declaration:
"...given the new weapons that make possible destructions that go beyond the combatant groups, today we should be asking ourselves if it is still licit to admit the very existence of a “just war.”
I think of Pope Saint John Paul II's holy efforts to end the scourge of war.

Customarily, such talks are kept under wraps until a deal has been brokered.
Met Hilarion was more anti war and his relocation to Hungary might have been more abrupt. My point? They might have discussed the conflict along with the weather and anything else. Hungary might not be where those empowered to agree peace actually are.
Francis, born in 1936, is 6 years older than Joe Biden, who is now 80.
If Joe Biden can have a team of people, including at times his wife and a person in a Easter Bunny suit, taking it in turns to shield him from the sort of normal level of communication and interaction a President would, normally, have with the press/journalists etc (both for his sake and for the sake of the reputation of the office he holds…) Surely those around Francis could do likewise? Both for his sake and for the sake of his office, the papacy?

Would only the world throw in with our holy, and great, Culture of Life, Roman Pontiff — Pope Francis.
Instead, the world throws in with Satan. The Devil laughs as he leads the world into war..war...always war.
From Pope Francis to one of his predecessors after another, our holy Popes have paved for us the path to peace. Unfortunately, the world has long preferred the path that has led to countless wars.

If anyone seriously believes that the pope of Rome is going to broker peace, they fundamentally do not understand either the Slavic peoples or the Orthodox jurisdictions to which most adhere, even if superficially.
That said, PF is saying the things he should be saying.
I know, queue holy, holy, holy, holier than thought and sprinkle in some Satan. Reality is a bitter pill to swallow at times.

I think it's very possible that the Church has, in the last 10 years, reached an apex regarding holiness. As luck would have it, you and I are witnesses to history and recipients of the graces that pour forth near daily.

Regarding the great Julius II,
Historians of Renaissance Italy and early modern Europe claim:
Julius II choose his papal name from Julius Caesar; not Julius I, or any past Christian.
He made a big exception for himself re Canon Law when he’d repeatedly lead troops into battle.
Illegitimate children, like many Cardinals in that era.
Once, in battle he led his troops breaching a castle wall shouting out “Let’s see who has the biggest balls! Me or the King of France!”
Witnesses on this occasion, and at other battles, made it clear Julius II was not referring to cannon balls.
In one famous portrait, it took some persuading for Julius not to be painted holding up his favourite battle sword for the portrait….
