This is a quote from Tuesday’s Crux about what was thought to be an act of terrorism near the Vatican on Sunday:
“Nako’s motive for his rampage is still unclear, but it is believed to be the result of narcotics and a possible psychiatric episode, rather than tourism.”
Of course they meant to write “terrorism” not “tourism”! Funny, no?

When I lived in New England tourists were considered to be part and parcel to terrorists.

Yep. There was a door mat that was popular ‘way down east’ on the rugged coast of Maine that read “Go Away”. There are many jokes that feature a lighthouse keeper arguing with a stranger through a door peep hole. I loved the solitude and simplicity. And yet despite the icy demeanor many people left their doors unlocked, ‘in case someone needed something’.
