I would say that you both put the situation very well. The liberal problem in the Church is a cultural problem, tied to a single decade. And, that tie is a death grip that just will not let go, until... I don't wish death on anyone, but I'm tired of these revolutionaries smothering our spirits ("harshing my mellow"?). They need to get real and mellow out, man!

Guess which one Father McDonald looks like (don’t be thrown off by the Mc in McCallum).
