He has proceeded gradually and carefully, doing nothing that is forbidden and reasoning, wisely, that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. There are other Priests like Fr. who are moving in the same direction, and I thank God for them.Genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06672484450736725268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-22731308415092314602010-05-09T18:19:36.026-04:002010-05-09T18:19:36.026-04:00I will say that Fr. Justin do a top notch job with the OF, the OF falls short in many areas, and just does not offer the majesty, reverence and dignity that the EFM does. I would love to see the return of the prayers before the Alter. These prayers set the tone, a tone of something majestic, beautiful, sacred, and very special is about to happen, it set a tone of reverence, for us to be in awe of what will happen there. Why they where removed I will never understand. Also I would like to see a return of the last Gospel. This Gospel sums up what we have just witnessed in the Mass, and make us acutely aware of our Lords, life death and resuection. His relationship with us, the Church. The prayers after the Mass would be nice, to keep people focused, and again aware of the blessings we have received, and to give thanks for them. I would also like to see the Eucharistic prayers done ad orientum. Just my two cents.Gerberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14941363161750860915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-84039372582818410812010-05-07T19:58:01.093-04:002010-05-07T19:58:01.093-04:00Jody Peterman's anaolgy and comments are right...Jody Peterman's anaolgy and comments are right on target.

Anything less could not have brought me back home.
Thank You.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-5866773638456506042010-05-06T20:52:26.342-04:002010-05-06T20:52:26.342-04:00R.K.... I think you assumed wrong about my post...I do not think nor was ever told the Church was a democracy..With a lay commission in every parish with so much to decide, right down to the music how could I possibly be confused about democracy and choice. And those Vat II documents that refer to changes to Mass being in the best interest to the faithful. Without a full understanding one would indeed think people were polled and Masses ad experimentum were conducted. F...I will have to disagree with you a little Jody. Fathers McDonald and Ferguson certainly take the OF from a VW, to a really loaded, top end VW, with a one of a kind paint job maybe, but certainly not a Porsche. But that's no fault of their own, as you can only do so much to a VW, and there are still quite a few customizations that could soup up the OF a little more (all within the GIRM of course).

The EF is the real Porsche, or perhaps Rolls Royce is a better analogy.

Father, it's jarring to see the difference in the masses presented that way. Changing the removed texts from italics to say the color red would make it even more apparent to the casual reader exactly what they have been denied in the name of "simplicity". If we want simplicity we can cut the Mass down to:

Hi God.

I've been bad, hope you can let that go.

Gimme a Break Lord
Cut me some slack Lord
Gimme a Break Lord

Glory to God
You're the Tops
I really mean that.

If you haven't read the Bible today, try and take some time out to read a passage or two, they're all pretty good, especially the Gospels. No pressure though.

We'll skip the Homily, what makes the Priests opinion more valid than anyone else?

And so on...I'll refrain from mocking any part of the Canon but I'm sure we can boil that down to worthless syntax too. My point being is that the OF as it stands is hardly noble simplicity, it's just simplicity. And MAYBE the EF isn't Noble Simplicity it's just Noble, but if my 4 children can follow the EF it can't be too far from simplicity as they were educated in the State of Georgia, which is hardly the paragon of academia in the US.Templarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18204866760862707908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-55062747415661403952010-05-06T07:58:32.121-04:002010-05-06T07:58:32.121-04:00Fr.,
