I don't think his papacy will be a long one somehow, because he is already confusing the faithful as is evident from at least one person posting here. I personally think Pope Francis is confused. He is equating mercy with a soft line. Our Lord said he did not condemn the woman caught in adultery, but He was plain to her: go and sin no more. Our Lord didn't mess around when it came to people's souls. We need to pray for Pope Francis.

JanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-79878290736175188712013-09-21T12:09:24.308-04:002013-09-21T12:09:24.308-04:00To the person struggling with pornography and mast...To the person struggling with pornography and masturbation:

I think I understand a little bit why you feel restless and almost permitted to indulge in what you surely know deep down are sinful activities.

Pope Benedict restored a "Sensus Catholicus" to the Church for the first time since the early 1960's. He made a clear definition of what it means to be a Catholic and what one must assent to and act upon to be in a state of grace. He opened the gates for the restoration of a liturgical form that had been unbroken for centuries, a form which gives us a deep sense of God's majesty, our unworthiness and the intense price Jesus Christ paid for us, in spite of the fact that we don't deserve His mercy.

Pope Francis may have the best intentions, but he apparently is one last throwback to the easy-going, "don't be so hard on yourself" Church of the 70's. It is easy to understand that he wants sinners in the Church, the fallen away and non-Catholics to know unequivocally that God is a God of mercy and we are more concerned with saving souls than "enforcing" rules. However, one could make a good argument that mercy is not an unlimited offer and, sooner or later, the "sale" will end. Then we will know the God of Justice. That is important because it is an act of the greatest charity to instruct the ignorant and warn souls of the dire consequences of rejecting God and disobeying his commandments.

This style of Church governance is a proven failure. With, again, the best intentions, the Pontificates of Paul VI and JPII were hesitant to enforce the Church's laws. The result is that today we have the scandal of many, many public figures who embrace the "right" to abortion, militant feminism, gay rights and live openly in defiance, all the while publicly proclaiming that they are Catholics in good standing. They have the courage to do this because they have learned that the Church will not touch them and there are no earthly consequences for their defiance. They rejoice at the positions of Francis and popes like him, because it assures them that they can continue their sinful defiance.

You must not let this temporary pause in the disciplinary obligations of the Church throw you off from the progress you have made in fighting the enemy. The enemy wants nothing less than the eternal destruction of your soul. At the Last Judgment, it will not matter how "normal" or "widespread" this sin you are addicted to is. God does not grade on a curve. Our souls must be perfect when they stand before God, which is why, in His mercy, he has given us Purgatory.

When you face these temptations, and you know they will never completely end on this earth, make it a point to pray for the pope, pray for others like you who are facing these temptations and pray for the poor lost souls who are in the pornography industry.Your Brother, A Sinnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-91298760190014003002013-09-21T09:53:59.925-04:002013-09-21T09:53:59.925-04:00Anon at Sept 20 9:34 PM,

By saying this, I said what the catechism says. Religion has the right to express its opinion in the service of the people, but God in creation has set us free: it is not possible to interfere spiritually in the life of a person.

When God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?’ We must always consider the person. Here we enter into the mystery of the human being. In life, God accompanies persons, and we must accompany them, starting from their situation. It is necessary to accompany them with mercy.

The church’s pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently.

The above quote has changed me. I have had a strong habitual attachment to porn and masturbation since I was a teenager. I would go thru cycles of indulging in it, then quitting, then falling back. When Benedict was elected pope, I felt my heart change. I became more serious about giving it up, and when I would fall, I would go to confession ASAP. During the papcy of Benedict, I seemingly was able to keep my attacment to porn and masturbatoin under control.

But since Francis has become pope, I have become restless. The urges have become stronger. When I read the quotes above, I feel like I have been wrong to supress myself, and I sould indulge in reasonable moderation without fear and guilt. Surely, if the pope says these things about gays, those of us who enjoy porn and masturbation should be given the same consideration.

Francis makes me feel like I can enjoy porn and masturbation freely.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-81944292293163895722013-09-20T09:42:56.746-04:002013-09-20T09:42:56.746-04:00Da Pope sez:

I have not spoken much about these things, and I was reprimanded for that. But when we speak about these issues, we have to talk about them in a context. The teaching of the church, for that matter, is clear and I am a son of the church, but it is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time...The dogmatic and moral teachings of the church are not all equivalent. The church’s pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently. Proclamation in a missionary style focuses on the essentials, on the necessary things: this is also what fascinates and attracts more, what makes the heart burn, as it did for the disciples at Emmaus."

He's right. Since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 there have been nearly 57 million abortions. Worldwide there have been over 1.3 BILLION abortions since 1980. And the "disjointed obsession" of contraception is also based on the fact that most birth control methods, especially the pill, ARE ABORTIFACIENTS.

You want context? Hitler managed to kill nearly 6 million Jews and we are still lamenting it 60 years later. Yet 1.3 billion people die in the last 30 years before they get a chance to be born and our pope complains about disjointed obsessions with this crime? There is no other moral equivalent. If we go prancing about proclaiming our joy because we are the people of God while remaining just "concerned" about the numbers of innocents slaughtered in clinics legally each year, we are hypocrites of the lowest order. If we continue to temper our message with silence and hesitation because some might take offense at the cruel truth of the barbaric society we have become, then we certainly deserve to hear Jesus say, "Begone, I never knew you."

Woe to any Church leaders who encourage such a cowardly path.Alger Hissnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-4240066355899470902013-09-20T08:46:25.225-04:002013-09-20T08:46:25.225-04:00Love first...before chants, brocade, and orientati...Love first...before chants, brocade, and orientation. This is precisely why there is so much unchallenged apostasy and heresy in the Church today. Those who commit these sins that mislead the faithful know they are not going to be bothered.
