But I believe the flow of liberals is mostly the other way.

However, in my experience--most of it online, admittedly--those coming into the Anglican Use ordinates are of entirely different sort, more like the kind of people in my traditional Latin Mass community, where there's 100% uniformity in belief about the Real Presence, abortion, heresy, etc. They're already (traditionally) Catholic in belief and devotion. To get a sense of such an Anglican Use parish, you could check out the San Antonio parish site http://www.atonementonline.com

The people you're talking are Episcopalians, not Anglo-Catholics. I feel exactly as you do about such Episcopalians.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-17489915649314848972012-04-03T12:22:31.145-04:002012-04-03T12:22:31.145-04:00I understand what you are saying, Henry, but the b...I understand what you are saying, Henry, but the believing Episcopalians are quiet. They will not be the only ones who come into the Catholic Church. There are many liberals who, being fundamentally hypocritical, do not like gays or women priests. They will come to the Catholic Church because they can have the aesthetics without Butch and Brucie and without the Reverends Susie and Linda. But, when they get here, they will have no problem with married Priests, abortion, birth control, or heresy. They are also "take it or leave it" regarding the Real Presence. These same people are crusaders at heart and they are loud and obnoxious. They simply will not be able to shut up and behave themselves. Trust me on this.Genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06672484450736725268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-13989459060205636012012-04-03T10:49:56.672-04:002012-04-03T10:49:56.672-04:00Gene,
You are not up-to-date on the traditional A...Gene,

You are not up-to-date on the traditional Anglo-Catholics who are involved in the Anglican ordinate. As a hard core traditional Catholic myself, I would say that these Anglo-Catholics are just as faithful and orthodox as we are, and don't need to change anything to be fully Catholic. They already are, in faith and belief (aside from formal and jurisdictional considerations). Many of them celebrate the genuine pre-1955 Tridentine Mass, in Latin as well as others in hieratic English. This, I'm sure, is why most of our English-speaking bishops have been and are unenthusiastic about them ("we don't need any more trads.)

You are confusing these Anglican trads with run-of-the mill Episcopalians, the watered down liberals you refer to (more like our own everyday Catholics). But who at least serve the useful purpose of welcoming fallen-away Catholics. It's hard to resist the thought that both we and they would be improved by a total exchange, our liberals for their conservatives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-86155957960173968632012-04-03T07:55:33.349-04:002012-04-03T07:55:33.349-04:00What scares me is the admission that your seminary...What scares me is the admission that your seminary was very liberal and that you were certain that women would one day be ordained. On one hand, that speaks well of you, to see how far you have come since that time, since you now seem to be thinking with the "Mind of the Church". But it also scares the heck out of me and should scare the heck out of all of us here in this diocese when we think of the other priests in your age group who've had the same education as you and have not had their skulls full of mush cleared up yet (and probably never will). NO WONDER THIS IS SUCH A LITURGICAL WASTELAND! Father, you just exposed what's at the heart of the problem here and in many other dioceses.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-90542416811285235402012-04-03T06:12:01.496-04:002012-04-03T06:12:01.496-04:00Once there are a significant number of married Pri...Once there are a significant number of married Priests in the Catholic Church, enemies of the Church and proponents of a non-celibate Priesthood will argue backwards from the existence of married Priests in the Church to the need for a universally non-celibate Priesthood. The wives of the Priests will be encouraged by the modernists to take an active role in Church affairs (especially teaching roles)and be highly visible. From this they will argue for the ordination of women. Never mind that it does not follow...that does not matter to modernists.

At first, I thought this Anglican thing might be a good thing. Now, I think it is a huge mistake...the way it is being done, that is. Bring them in, but do not allow their married Priests to be Priests in the Catholic Church. Just because they can ape Catholic liturgical motions and hold things right does not make this a good idea.

There is also the issue of Episcopal values and attitudes. Over time they have developed a very liberal laity. The Episcopal Church is chock full of academics, old hippies, art majors, Woodstock veterans, yoga teachers, marijuana farmers, Yugo and Prius drivers, and easy women. They will bring those values into the Catholic Church.
This is just like all the Yankees that move South to get away from urban decadence, big city crime, and the rat race. They bring their damnyankee values with them, vote for Left wing candidates and Obama, and generally screw up the South (with due respect to the few exceptions)...including the language..."pool," "tool," and "cool" are not two syllable words....Genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06672484450736725268noreply@blogger.com
