There is pla...Father, you hit the nail on the head. There is plain and simply a denial that a human life is taken. The fact that a human life is taken is too painful and difficult for most people to wrap their minds around. Most pro-choice advocates cannot bear to let their minds go to that place. It is so much easier for the mind to think about protecting a woman's right to control her destiny as she see fits, just like men can. So, pro-choice advocates think they are promoting civil rights, freedom and liberty; values this great country was built upon. Sounds moral, caring, and generous to be pro-choice. "Don't you dare take away my civil liberites,as I wouldn't dream of taking away yours."
Who in the world came up with this term "reproductive rights" anyway? Some lawyer who was arguing the Roe vs. Wade case? It's such a totally bogus term.
I would love to see the Bishops use their position to shout about and expose the very real post-abortion pain that will follow and equally loudly offer a the Church to all who want and need genuine healing.
It appears that sometimes too much energy and talk goes into "us against them", that pro-lifers branded themselves as militant condescending know-it-alls. It's hopeful to see that brand is softening up lately. Don't get me wrong, some amount of judiciously placed and wisely used display of willingness and fortitude to fight for what is right is surely appropriate.
Blessed Teresa said it so well"It is a poverty that a chid should die so that you can live your life the way you want to."
If only there was some mega superstar celebrity who would make this his/her message....
If only there was a law that as the doctor takes an ultrasound right before the woman is sedated, the screen must be turned where she can see it...
And I am PROUD of the USCCB for their work on this current health care reform!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-65149021445100419682009-11-16T15:12:30.245-05:002009-11-16T15:12:30.245-05:00"If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath..."If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you."

"If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

John 15:18-19

The outcry against the Bishops and the Church in the public forum is a good thing. It means we are being faithful, and our message strikes fear in the secular progressives who would prefer to see God banished from the debates.Templarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18204866760862707908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-48763335869942034732009-11-13T10:02:38.913-05:002009-11-13T10:02:38.913-05:00"Bretheren, they do not know us because they ..."Bretheren, they do not know us because they did not know Him."Genehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06672484450736725268noreply@blogger.com
