I was afraid it was that Jesus was a Superhero too, on par with Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman....you know, just a good guy with super powers doing good deeds.... Or maybe it was. I guess you had to be there. As Fr AJM suggests, they will likely grow up to become nones as a result. Authenticity is what appeals to children and young adults, not childishness that profanes the altar. I grew up with this sort of nonsense in the 1970s. Then, when visiting my grandmother and going to her church (which, at the time still maintained Ad Orientem posture until a late 70s renovation forced the addition of an honestly beautiful and complementary table altar), I was stunned/amazed at what worship was supposed to be. At that young age, I knew, without a doubt, I liked and wanted that. <br /><br />This does nothing to teach faith, teach a love for the tradition or, respect for the church and its sacraments.
