The Nones have made it clear they are out, and it’s basically the faithful remnant holding things together while a new generation of priests forms then oversees what is left...
May God bless and provide the miracles needed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-85116131997051909282018-05-02T13:46:31.449-04:002018-05-02T13:46:31.449-04:00It is not about Christ's moral teachings or ab...It is not about Christ's moral teachings or about how we interpret those. It is not about pastoral care or social work in the Church. The crisis is one of belief. The loss of Faith and belief in Christ's resurrection and our bodily resurrection is the very reason so much time is spent ranting and mouthing about service, pastoral care, moral theology, etc. If you don't believe in God, at least the Trinitarian God who literally rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is coming again in Glory to bodily raise His children from the dead, then what else can you talk about...ah, "Christian ethics." The problem is, there is no true "Christian ethic." It is impossible to construct an ethic, in the philosophical sense in which it is usually understood, from the NT. The Christian lives by following God's will, which cannot be codified in a system. But, in a Church in which unbelief is rampant among Priests and other clergy, social work and interpersonal gobbledygook and other pop psycho-theology is mostly what we hear.
Belief is primary...every ethical/moral imperative of the Christian life follows from Christ's commands, "Believe on Him who was sent" and "Repent and believe the Gospel." If one does not believe that Christ is who He said He is and in His bodily resurrection, then it doesn't really matter what ethic you follow. You are like Alice in her discussion with the Cheshire Cat when she asks, "Excuse me, Sir, but which way should I go?" The cat replies, "Well, that depends on where you want to get to." Alice says, "I don't know where I want to get to." The cat replies, 'Then, it really doesn't matter which way you go." This could be an epigram over theology today. I think their confusion stems mainly from the false idea that Benedict was somehow qualitatively different than Francis. They both share the same errant theological foundation from which all of the present errors flow. Francis is just more overt with his heresy; whereas, Benedict was a true liberal.
