Somehow, the rest of us need to find a way to view him in continuity with his predecessors. I'm a little surprised he doesn't see how irrelevant the papal curia--whether bureaucratic or efficient--is to the lives of ordinary Catholics.Rood Screenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09816036539243214384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-90011211466238637352016-03-18T16:48:20.233-04:002016-03-18T16:48:20.233-04:00John Nolan

Apart from anything else, he could make theology accessible to the layman (a not inconsiderable feat for a German) and he understood liturgy to the extent that he could have supported the aims of the Liturgical Movement yet realized with clarity that these aims had been prostituted.

However, he threw in the towel and giving interviews now is not going to alleviate the mess for which he himself is to a large measure responsible. He is not a weak man; the ailing JP II landed him with the sex abuse allegations (most of which emanated from the USA) and he handled them promptly and effectively. He could have been a great pope, but the manner of his going casts a shadow over his papacy.

John Nolanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09027156691859606002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846189835239594160.post-86589124885442775672016-03-18T11:42:02.355-04:002016-03-18T11:42:02.355-04:00The irony of Pope Benedict is that the liberals we...The irony of Pope Benedict is that the liberals went wild when he was elected and they derided him like he was the second Torquemada, In fact, Pope Benedict was a very gentle man who tried to persuade, rather than dictate, the right way to do things. In stark contrast to the faux liberal, Pope Francis, for whom it is his way or the highway. Pope Benedict does not say anything against Mercy
of God. But Faith is the basis for our Salvation. Let this Priest learn the Catechism of the True Catholic Church and read the writings of
Church doctors . Read also the Holy Catholic Bible .

Unfortunately, modern and Liberal Priests are responsible for millions of souls are being lost and go to Hell. Pope Francis is totally in agreement with this line. His pastoral practice is expressed in the fact that he continually speaks to us of God's mercy. It is mercy that moves us toward God, while justice frightens us before Him. In my view, this makes clear that, under a veneer of self-assuredness and self-righteousness, the man of today hides a deep knowledge of his wounds and his unworthiness before God. He is waiting for mercy."Fr. Michael J. Kavanaughnoreply@blogger.com
