I like Father Z, he has suffered much and used this suffering to help those of us who look for some hope there is sanity somewhere in the Church. Now that I know about you, Father, I like you as well. I hope you two can get along. I agree he was a bit harsh on Father Carter, but it is for some to try to work within the Church and for others to sacrifice their standing in the Church for the greater good, as has been done by many unknown priests who kept the TLM alive during the period from 1964 to the publication of Summorum Pontificum.
Both Father Z and Father McDonald are fine priests. I tend to agree with Father Z that Father Carter was gaslighting the congregation, but perhaps Carter's thinking it is better to survive and be around when inevitably the ultra vires, cruel and evil Motu Proprio, Traditiones Custodes, is tossed on the ashbin of history. Father Carter can continue to quietly work to preserve what he can until better days arrive.
I have regarded as lame Father Zuhlsdorf's assessment of Father Carter's homily in question. I do not turn to Father Zuhlsdorf to obtain keen assessments in regard to Church-related matters.
Where are Fr Z’s faculties? We seek them there, we seek them here yet no where to be found! The question is there fore is he a priest in good standing at all?
Yes, and while in Rome, if Fr. Z celebrates Masses and hears Confessions, in particular Confessions, he needs faculties to do so and his bishop has to offer Rome a letter of good standing with his diocese. This applies too where he lives in the USA.
Fr z used to publish his Delbert online years ago but it expires. He was required to return to his home diocese but didn’t and has failed to be incardinated elsewhere since the Madison fiasco. We all know Rome is lax about requiring celebrets especially in the trad church he frequents. He certainly doesn’t say mss publicly in the US. I doubt his standing. Let him prove otherwise!
Fr Z continues to be listed as a diocesan priest on the Velletri-Segni diocese website.
I’ll think you’ll find he’s listed as holding current faculties. He was required to return to his home diocese but didn’t. He’s a roaming priest earning money where ever he can dishonourably.

BB nice try with the Scarlet Pimpernel schtick. Are you a Catholic in good standing?
