HUFFINGTON POST HAS JUST MADE A HUGE, AND LET ME SAY, HUGE, ERROR ABOUT CARDINAL JOSEPH TOBIN--THE HUFF SAYS TOBIN HAS ASKED POPE FRANCIS TO STEP DOWN--WRONG!

This is laughable if the topic wasn't so serious. Cardinal Tobin was speaking about "rightwingers" doing the asking of Pope Francis to neuter him--It isn't Cardinal Tobin doing the asking. He supports Pope Francis 100% and decries Archbishop Vigano and others who support Vigano!

I think Pope Francis may want to reconsider his charge to reporters on his in-flight presser!

Let us never forget that Tobin publically tweeted, "Nighty-night, baby. I love you." When that tweet was noticed, people rightfully inquired as to whom it was supposed to be addressed since it was clearly a message intended to be sent privately rather than publically.

Tobin responded that it was meant for his sister.

In the present crisis, one can determine which side is more credible by comparing those who are attempting to demean Abp. Vigano -- like Tobin and Wuerl -- with those who find him credible -- like Burke. To my mind, even if I previously had any respect for Francis (which I didn't), the fact that his supporters at this point are people the likes of Tobin is a strong indication of his guilt to the vindication of Vigano.

Marc,

If you do a little internet research, you will find that Wuerl has an "interesting" history. I wouldn't want him as my character witness.

TJM, at this point, I assume that nearly every bishop (even those of Rome) have some "interesting" history. Given the current calls to resign in light of that history, it is enough to make one wonder if that sort of history has ever been used to compel a bishop of Rome to resign before...

I'm beginning to share your opinion. The way clericalism has been perverted by many in the hierarchy, as opposed to it's actual meaning, sounds like one deflection after another - by those who are probably most guilty of clericalism. Do these prelates actually love: The Church, the sacraments, the people or, their respective positions and careers? It seems that many "golden calves" are being worshiped within the church anymore!
