AMPUTATION CAN LEAD TO HEALING! DOESN'T SOUND GOOD BUT IN THIS CASE IT IS GOOD!

There was Adoration and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament for Reparation at the Altar of the Chair (behind the Papal Altar) at St. Peter's this morning. John Allen of the National Catholic Reporter writes a very good story about it. It is worth reading:

AMPUTATION CAN LEAD TO HEALING!

I am grateful for the Mass of Reparation, and excellent idea that I would like to see extended. Every Priest, even more so every Bishop, in the Church should do public penance, and it should be opened to allow the Laity to do so as well. If it could be coordinated at the Church level to be done on the same day world wide, THAT would make a powerful statement to the world; but more importantly, it would be an excellent step towards real reparation.

Amputation of bad priests is a good idea, but amputation of bad Bishops is so much more important.

As I was reading my thoughts went right to Matt 18:10-18 "… if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he shall neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, whatever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." I also started to see more clearly the wisdom of the early Church council from Nicea to Trent, on the issue of anathemas. Paul says in 1st Corinthians “ "If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha." These verses are the Churches foundation for issuing an anathema or excommunications. It could be asserted that those priest who abused children (or anyone else) and the bishops who did not act to stop it when found out did not or do not love our Lord, and should have received an anathema ceremony.
A formula for this ceremony was drawn up by Pope Zachary and was performed with such solemnity that it struck fear into the criminal, fear of total separation from God, Although he is delivered to Satin and his angles, he can still, and is even bound to repent. The Church gives the form for absolving him and reconciling him with the Church. The progressives at Vatican II abandoned what the Church has always understood about human nature. For before the 60’s the Church understood that a molester can not be rehabilitated and should be removed from the priesthood immediately. All of a sudden in the 60’s the Church began to question what she has always knew, and listened to therapist that said they could be rehabilitated. Well hind sight is 20/20, they can’t. The Church should have listened to the voices of the past. Vat II did not do away with anathemas, matter of fact all the bishops and cardinal present signed a document that affirmed everything the Council of Trent stated. Surprise, surprise! The progressive don’t like Trent and do everything to advoid it. God does love us, but love requires a true response, our priest who love the Lord, do his will, and spread the Gospel, by word and action. Those who don’t must understand they bring damnation upon themselves. Do you think that if the ceremony of anathema with maranantha was carried out when a priest was caught and proven guilty for abuse would have prevented or would have rid the Church of those priest and prevented those with the Inclination to even enter into the priesthood. I say absolutely yes. The Church has an obligation to proclaim the Gospel, which means not just teach it but live it out. Sometimes it is necessary to cut off or anathema those who betray the Church with grave sins.

The abuse is only a symptom of the real problem. If they excise the abusers more will rise up to take their place. The clergy, as a group with few individual exceptions, work daily to undermine the rule of law and jeopardise United States sovereignty. They openly support communist and socialist agendas. Sexual abuse is only their personal testament to their true belief in Leftist ideals. The Bishops are working together to destroy individual liberty. The part that is so sad is that they are being used by the people they hope will approve of their politics. And when all property and industries are socialised who will need the Church when all social justice and needs come from the State?

Anonymous, you are inacurate in your statement, the abuse problem is from a vary small number of clergy, and is not a symptom of a greater problem. The Church has always supported individual liberties, and created the rule of law in western civilization. The Churches social justice policies are based upon three things, life, the essential liberty, subsidiarity, and solidarity, these are the foundations of individual liberties and are not leftist or socialistic in any way. They support the dignity of the individual, which is central to individual liberty. The Church is about teaching the Gospel, which even in Jesus's time was counter to the politics of the day. Before you blow off, learn the truth, don,t paint a broad brush about the Church based upon a few who fail.

I do enjoy your blog. I like your posts. I like your work. Thank you.

It was Adoration, though, and not Mass in reparation at the Altar of the Chair last Saturday. One of my fellow students organized it to show our solidarity with the Holy Father and reparation for these sins in the Church. A beautiful gesture.
